|
Beaudesert vs Lichfield Nomads Nomads won by 1 wicket. Dave Pickering came up trumps edging the winning runs for 4 in a tense and exciting finish. Beau batted first and 'old boy' Ian Hughes took a satisfying 3-46. Mark Heslington was suffering with an injury and could only bowl 2 overs. Pete Blackburn chipped in with 2-22 and Keith Greaves bowled a controlled 10 overs taking 1 for 22. An unusual partnership of Hoddy and Hussein opened the batting. Hussein could only manage a single before perishing but Hoddy put together a useful stand with Pinfield. Hoddy eventually made a season's best 27. Pinfield and Osborn also built a fruitful partnership and Osborn scored a valuable 25. Pinfield recorded his first 50 of the season and was eventually out for 59 in what was a vital innings in a relatively low scoring match. Nomads were in sight of victory but the wickets were starting to tumble. Ian Hughes added 16 runs to his three wickets but Fuzz, Mark and Pete Blackburn all went for ducks and Graham Coleman was dismissed for a single. It was left to the last pair of Pickering and Greaves to eke out the winning runs and the return of the quicks allowed Dave to use the bowler's pace to his advantage as he stood firm and edged a four to win the match for the Nomads by one wicket.
