Nomads in the Mist

Nomads triumphed in the rain and mist at Pott Shrigley.
After a 90 minute journey Nomads spent the next twenty minutes squeezing out the wicket, looking dubiously at the sky and trying to see what is probably a splendid view into the hills on a sunny day.
A 15 over match was arranged and after Forster lost the toss, Nomads opened with Osborn and Hemmings the Younger, facing an accurate attack which included a Pott 1st teamer. Runs were at a premium early on but with the need to press on, Osborn in particular bashed away and took some opportune quick singles to keep Hemmings on his toes.
Hemmings left to a ball which just nicked his leg bail, bringing in Pinfield. These two cruised along at 6 or so an over before Osborn played onto his leg stump after getting just too fine an edge. Heslington got quickly into his stride, and at the end of their 15, Nomads had a accumulated an impressive 95 for 2.
After an early tea, when the rain abated, Nomads emerged to a downpour. Heslington & Hemmings took their maximum three overs apiece, with Hemmings taking out an off stump with a fast full toss. Both openers contained the batsmen making their run chase more difficult. Forster replaced Heslington and made the batsmen struggle as he concentrated on line and length and at the other end Blackburn was also proving difficult to get away. 2 for 4 in his three overs, by Foster, set up Greaves to complete the job with 2 for 1, as he cleaned up in the 13th and 15th overs, leaving Pott with a total of 49.
An excellent performance (including top class fielding by Coleman at backward square) by a very moist Nomads side, keeps them just in front in the curry stakes.
On reflection it is difficult to imagine how last weeks dire performance in excellent conditions against Beau can have been completed by the same team who were 100% better in all aspects of the game in appalling conditions this week. We can only hope for a lot more rain at the weekends and many more short matches. (Perhaps we're just running out of wind for 80 over matches!)
