24/9/99 - Nomads Annual Dinner.

Darren Cartwright has organised the Annual Dinner at The Swan with two necks on Friday 22nd October 1999. As usual there will be a set menu with a choice of dishes and large quantities of fine beer. The Captain will sum up the season's highs and lows and the club prizes will be awarded. Some of which, no doubt, will be left on the wall outside the pub in traditional fashion. Contact Dazzer to book your tickets for the social event of the millenium.

24/9/99 - Nomads Tee Off.

Our hardworking social sec Darren has also organised an end of season Golf Social. It will be held on Sunday 3rd October at Beacon Park Pitch and Putt. Contact Dazzer for further details.

24/9/99 - April Showers Reign.

Well that's it folks. Week 21 brings the Nomads Fantasy Cricket league 1999 to a close and leaves April Showers reigning for the next twelve months. Heslington did it in style by recording the 2nd highest score of the week and thereby comfortably seeing off the challenge of Derek Randall's Grin. Commiseration's are due to Captain's Choice who, it seems, had mostly chosen to go on holiday for the final week leaving the Sheikh with only five active players. For the first time in many weeks his team dipped out of the frame being overtaken by the weeks top scorers Beached Whale 2XI and the Soft Shoulder. Jennett's Woodlarks managed to flutter above Wye's Warriors by a single point and the Magnificent XI retained their title of strongest team by holding everyone else up.

18/9/99 - Wall game cancelled.

The game at Wall was cancelled.

17/9/99 - Fantasy Cricket Penultimate Week.

Just one week to go and everything to play for. A high scoring week has put the cat among the nomads with the previously unassailable MAH under severe pressure from Mr Angry. A duff week for the Captain's choice and incredible scoring by Soft Shoulder (345) has left third place being contested by a possible four entrants. Week 20 details

13/9/99 - Early start for Wall game.

The final match of the 1999 season at Wall is now scheduled for a 1:30pm start.

12/9/99 - Historic win for the Nomads at Birch Coppice.

After a disappointing start Nomads were reduced to 19 for 2 and it looked like it might be the same old story at Birch Coppice. However, the middle order battled back with a stand of 34 between Fearon and Pinfield and then 65 between Fearon and Forster, who scored a Nomads personal best of 43 not out. Nomads finished with a respectable 144 for 5 off the 40 overs. A fighting 77 not out from Barnes was not enough to clinch victory. Graham Blackburn guesting at Number 10 for Coppice almost stole the headlines, scoring 2 fours before being run out off the penultimate ball, giving Nomads their first ever victory at Birch Coppice.

Lichfield Nomads - 144 for 5 off 40 overs (Forster 43*, Fearon 33, Pinfield 24)

Birch Coppice - 142 for 9 (all out) off 39.5 overs (Barnes 77*, Gee 20, Hoddy 3-34, Heslington 2-17 and 3 catches)

Paul swaps places with Akin and moves up to second place but Ross is still top and favourite to win with the end of the season in sight. Week 18 Details.

20/8/99 - Fantasy Cricket: Top 3 pull clear.

A bit of a standstill week with no great scoring going on. The top three continue to edge away from the rest and it seems certain one of these three will win the trophy this year. Hussein is top with Heslington 2nd and Fearon third. Week 16 Details.

18/8/99 - Fantasy Cricket: Hussein Clear at the top.

8/8/99 - Nomads v Norton Abandoned due to rain.

Nomads found the going a lot tougher second time around against Norton. The match was rain affected and reduced to 39 overs. The game was played in perpetual drizzle and there was a 20 minute break when the rain became too heavy. Nomads managed to bat out the overs making 137, thanks mainly to a 57 stand between Fearon and Pinfield and a ninth wicket stand of 25 between Shohet and Hoddy. There were Gonads for Smith and Tungate. With Norton 4 for 2 off 3 overs it seemed another easy win was on the cards but Tyler and P Williams batted Norton back into the game before a late tea was taken. As the players came off, the bad weather took over and play was abandoned with no further play after tea.

Lichfield Nomads 137 all out (Fearon 34, Pinfield 29, Shohet 14, Hoddy 10*, P Williams 5-19, Tyler 3-34) Norton 50 for 3 off 15 overs (P Williams 23*, Upton 19*, Heslington 1-5, Fearon 1-13)

30/7/99 - April Showers reign on.

Rhian's Rascals led the week 13 pack, closely followed by Dad's Wye Warriors with the Collie Wobbles snapping at their heels. Captain's Choice not far behind meant the top four were covered by only six points. PJF's team couldn't handle the heady airs of leadership and have slipped to third while April Showers go top. Ev's all Stars are obviously on their summer hols as they failed to break the 100 mark. Week 13 Details
