Mike Boney - Captain (A.K.A. - Bonestead) T-1
Mike Boney, a two-year captain for the male harriers, exited his four year career in blue and gold on a high note. Recieving All-Hamonnasset Honors, Mike also qualified for the State Open (the first male harrier to qualify in 20 years), and placed 13th in the Class L State Championships. Mike has been a dedicated captain and a strong leader. Mike holds the school record at East Haven High School with a PR of 16:41 at his 3.1 mile home course. "The Boney Express" can be found next year competing in Track & Field at the University of Connecticut. He will no longer be doing distance running but will be competing under the multi-event category and will also be doing the decathlon. Check your newspapers!!
Tony Violano (A.K.A.- Vio) T-1
Vio was a first year senior harrier who finished out the season in the number 5 position. His contributions were very important to the teams success. Unaware of his capabilities Vio surprised many with his ability. As a solid 5 runner Vio worked hard to reach his peak performance; the team only wishes he had become a harrier earlier in his High School career. Vio posted his seasons PR at the East Haven Inv. with a time of 19:55. Despite his love for Coach Clifton and his fears of Misty's evil doings his heart will always belong to the "linebacker". (Parthenon)
John Castelluzzo (A.K.A. - Screech)
John Castelluzzo, a three year senior veteran, joined the team his sophomore year. Since then, Screech has shown great improvement and dedication to the sport. With a unique running style, John is popular among the ladies. John has been a great friend to all and will be sorely missed. His distinct humor and agricultural talents(digging) will never be forgotten. John's PR in 1997- 21:02. Johnny Cass can be found in the future as a ma~ath teacher!!
Brian T. Chaput (A.K.A.- Chappy) T-1
Brian Chaput, a three year veteran to the Easties squad, had a breakthrough season in 1997-his junior year. After collapsing with dehydration in his first race of the season, Chaput recovered to mark his best of three seasons. As part of the Easties 1-2 punch, along with captain Mike Boney, Chaput gained All-Hamonnasset Honors and was runner-up at the Blue Dragon and East Haven Invitationals. Although missing the State Open with a disappointing race, Chaput is looking forward to qualifying in 98', and has hopes for All-State Honors next season as well. Chaput's PR was recorded at his home course- 16:54. Wearing the gold pinstriped baseball socks, Chaput is easily spotted in each race.
Rob Wolcheski (A.K.A.- Bushy) T-1
Rob is a two year veteran who came out for cross country his sophomore year. He may very well be the most dedicated runner on the team, and come race time he is always in focus. Rob ran his PR in a duel meet vs. N.Haven with a time of 18:21. Rob has been the number three runner for most of the season. He is next years co-captain along with Brian Chaput. There is one way you know that you've reached your limits with Bushy, when he reveals the "FACE".
Mike Archambault (A.K.A. - Arch)
Mike, a three year veteran harrier, enjoys short runs and consistent water breaks. Mike may often appear missing on long runs, but everyone knows he is at Wawa's. Nevertheless, Mike has been a consistent and steady runner for East Haven, and logged in his PR for the 97' season at 20:47. Mike is an easy kid to get along with, and is always willing to help out those in trouble. BUT, never, ever, come between Arch and his cookies.....Rob?
Bill Fusco
Bill, a two year veteran with a passion for nature and wildlife enjoys running throughout the woods of East Haven. His times have improved from his first year of running which shows that Bill has trained hard and wants to excel in the future. Bill logged his PR this year with a time of 20:43 at the East Haven Inv. When the horseplay in the locker room has gone too far Bill will be the first one to let us know that it's time to stop.
Mike D'Angelo (A.K.A.- Shnork)
Mike, a sophomore, has come a long way throughout the season. Failing to complete the warm-up mile at his first practice, D'Angelo went on to accomplish what seemed impossible, a 5K race. Not only did he complete all of his 5K races, but by mid-season he was completing workouts of up to ten miles! D'Angelo's PR for his rookie season- 22:50. Mike will be the first to admit that he has the most comfortable locker in the entire school!!
Gene Brady (A.K.A. - Gene, Gene, the Green Machine)
Gene, the freshman standout, has been the consistent #4 runner during the season. Gene is a quiet boy, but he listens to what is going on around him. Gene is a great young talent for the program, and has a lot of potential for the future. Gene posted a PR of 18:30 in his freshman season. Gene feels confident that he can overtake his rival counterpart, Rob Wolcheski, but Rob thinks otherwise.
Gene's thoughts on next years captain!
Mike Perrelli T-1
Mike, only a freshman, had an excellent rookie season. Mike was a consistent #6 or #7 runner. Without cross country flats all season long, P-Dogg (bark, bark) still managed to clock spectacular times for his first season, and like many of the other freshman, he shows signs for a great future. Mike logged a PR of 20:17. If Mike is not able to be reached, a possibility is that he may be spending the night at Misty's.
Tom McGuire (A.K.A.- Zig Boy) T-1
Tom was a first year runner this year who showed a lot of promise. He posed mainly as our number 7 runner. He ran his PR of 20:41 in great fassion. Tom, being only a freshman hopes to improve consistently throughout his four year stay at East Haven High School. Tom is the only person to imitate Screech's running style to perfection. Although Tom is often shy, when ordering food he is quite loud. He can also be surprised by unplanned slumber parties.
KirkTrofatter (A.K.A.-Hank,Kirby,Eric,Wayne,Turkey,Bosio,Amy)
Hank, a freshman, has been the most unpredictable facet to our team. Each day brings about a new unforgetable experience, some good and some bad. Kirk seems to be living in his own strange universe. He has the heart and determination of a quality runner. He has made great strides throughout the season and posted a PR of 21:04 and has plans to work hard in the off-season and progress throughout the years. If anyone has a dare for Kirk he will always comlete your request no matter how crazy it is!!
Bill Christman Bill singing his favorite tune!
Bill, a 4'10'' freshman, is not blessed with extreme height, but a desire to run. He came to the team mid-way through the season and showed plenty of team spirit. Bill made great strides througout the season and shows promise for the upcoming years. Bill's PR for the 1997 season- 22:16. When walking around town, Bill is often seen singing the Barney theme song to the local mailmen!! You may also see him buried in the sands of your town beach.
Mike Caprio
Mike joined the team mid-way through the season and has impoved steadily. With each hair always in place Caprio runs a smooth race. He has joined his teammate Mike D'Angelo as a season ticket holder for the center of the stretch circle. Perhaps next year he could scalp that ticket. Mike logged a PR of 22:24 for his freshman season. Caprio could survive an entire roll of duct tape despite the Chinese water torture.
