I am who I am

My name is Erin Sarsfield. I am from a little place called Almonte in Ontario. Since the school system in Ontario has OAC , I am a year older than most of the other frosh on campus this year.... 19! Outside of school, I have been extensively involed in horses, in particular dressage. I rode many school horses for a long period of time, and was in Pony Club when I was younger. I even rode some pony hunter, and on the arab circuit. I also skied downhill for a long time. For the past few years, I hung up my spurs over March break, and headed west to the wonders of Lake Louise.

At high school, I ran for the high school cross country team in the fall. I enjoy cross country for many reasons. The outdoors during the fall, running through the woods, up and down hills, and around the bush is *just natural*. It is such a relaxed atmosphere, as the cross country runners, run no matter what- through the snow, the rain, the sun, and the mud....

I ran for the track and field team in the spring, there is a whole new atmosphere of excitement, and concentration at track and field meets. According to my friends, I am crazy, anyone who enjoys the 1500m, and 3000m has to be crazy. I see it more as a personal challenge.

I started serious dressage competition in 1995, that all started out when I was learning how to fly. My aspirations, and goals grew, with the opportunity of pursuing dressage to an international level, untill I had to say goodbye. Though, situations do turn around, as the headlines read "Young Rider shines at Canadian National Dressage Championships", when a dream came true. I then graduated from Almonte District High School, packed my bags, to call this place home.

Career Aspirations

"Winning can be taken as a valid sign not only of excellence, but also of the necessarily dedicated pursuit of that excellence. In so far as that pursuit demands to an extraordinary degree certain desirable human qualities then it is worthy of our admiration and applause in a way that the achievement itself is not. The honour, the opportunity, the chance to meet others who have striven just as hard, the indentification of different cultures, different languages, different attitudes and standards and the change to be a part, to take part, to compete in an Olympic Festival, all these things are worthy of the sweat, strain, and deprivation, effort, exhaustion, the years of devotion just to 'be there" "
And What's that all about? Sports :) Sports Sport :) Sports Management to be precise...... I finally found my little niche in the world, and I plan to make my mark.... Watch out world, here I come :)

Power Point Presentation

Since I love Sport management so much I thought I'd put up a link to a powerpoint presentation. This presentation I had to do for COMM1213, Communications studies as a part of required business courses for recreation management majors here at Acadia. The assignment was to join a mailing list and then report back on the benefits of this mailing list. This is the presentation which went along with that speech.

Cool Links!

Thanks for stopping by my wee' litte place!
