Well, another year has come and the Gatorade Series of old has become the Coca Cola Classic Series! There is still, I gather, the Publix family weekend associated with it with an assortment of other races and fun events along with each Tri. So, join me now in socking away some money so we can afford these great races!!!
The Gatorade Series has been the Major Leagues here in Florida and we can hope the new Coca Cola series will uphold the banner well. The organization is usually very professional, the race sites are posh, to say the least; most are fantastic resorts. The competition is tough and the competitors are as good as Florida has to offer. The best (and most well-heeled) follow this series around the Southeast. If the television coverage of the races (Sunshine Network, check for times) isn't good enough, you have got to go to one of the races just to ogle the cool equipment!
My favorites are the Howey-in-the-Hills race, the Haines City Duathlon, and the Siesta Key race with its beach run. Unfortunately, the Siesta Key race is the only one of these left in their schedule. ESM puts on a great show every time and most of the races are held at top notch resorts. They can become expensive if you are not careful but
Each weekend has stuff for the whole family at the resorts and extra prizes from several sponsors.
Go to Gatorade Home Page for more info.
