Aaron Emery and Beaver River prove that size dosn't matter at federation meet!

    On Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Bowdoin State Park in Wappingers Falls, the New York State Federation Championships were held.  At the federation meet runners from schools of all sizes, public, private, and catholic, from all over the state compete to prove who is truly the best in New York.  This year the best runner was Aaron Emery (16:07.7) as he led the class D school Beaver River to the team championship with only 62 points.  The first runner up was St. Anthony's with 147 points, led by a fourth place finish from Charles Millioen in a time of 16:23.4.  The second place individual was Justin Romaniuk for Suffern with a 16:14.2.  He was followed by Darrell Andruski (16:22.3) from Shenendehowa in third.  The top section VI runner was John Huber who took fifth in 16:28.6 for Starpoint.  Also representing western New York were Trevor Cable (16:43.5)from Frewsburg in 13th, Chris Kuroski (16:49.5) of St. Mary's Lancaster in 19th, Dave Haefner (16:55.3) for Frontier in 25th, and Art Jozwiak (17:02.0) of JFK in 36th.

FootLocker North East Regional Results

It was a sad, sad day for the boys from New York.  There will be no male representatives from NY at the Footlocker National Championships in Orlando this year.  Western New York's top runner, John Huber, had a bit of an off day and took 31st in 16:25.  Peter Meindl, however, ran well finishing 29th with a time of 16:24.  Also running well was Chris Kuroski who finished just behind Huber in 32nd with a 16:25.  The next two runners from Western New York were Dustin Thomas in 63rd and Trevor Cable in 64th, both crossing the line in 16:48.  Federation meet champion Aaron Emery ran one of his worst races of the season taking 50th and finishing behind his teammate Tim Scarpinato who was 41st.  The top runners from NY were Joe Iatauro (16:05), Darrell Andruski (16:06), Justin Corelli (16:11), and Justin Romaniuk (16:13) finishing 10th, 11th, 12th, and 14th respectively.  The runners who will be going on to Orlando are 1.Dan Coval (15:38) from PA, 2.Tristan Colangelo (15:47) from MA, 3.David Barrett (15:47) from NH, 4.Jarrod Shoemaker (15:48) from MA, 5.Colin Ingram (15:48) from NH, 6.Brian McGovern (15:50) from CT, 7.Scott Munroe (15:51) from PA, and 8.Joshua Barcharo (15:54) from MA.  All are seniors except for McGovern who is a junior.
