Elma Meadows kicked some people's asses this year!

John Huber of Starpoint ran the best time of the day in a pitiful class B race with a 16:31.6 on a windy 3.1 mile course at Elma Meadows.  The next finisher was Alex Winstel from Grand Island who was an entire minute behind in 17:31.  Also making the trip to states will be John Floe(17:37) of Albion who finished third, Mike Tabone(17:45) from Lafayette who was fourth, Matt White(17:47) for Starpoint in fifth, Matt Briggs(17:50) of Fredonia who took sixth, and Shawn McGarvey(17:58) from Lewiston-Porter.  Starpoint also captured the team title with 51 points over Grand Island who had 88, and Olean with 118.
In the class A race Brandon Cameron of Kenmore West ran a 16:31.7 to take the victory.  Dave Haefner (16:45) took second place to lead Frontier to the team title.  Peter Meindl from Orchard Park was the only sophomore to qualify for a trip to states as an individual by finishing third in 16:48.  John McGrath was the fourth place finisher with a time of 17:02 and will be joining teammate Brandon Cameron at states.  Adam Gaske helped the Frontier cause taking fifth in 17:08.  Steve Harnisch (17:09) and Jim Wahl (17:10) finished sixth and seventh respectively for Clarence to take the last two qualifying spots in class A.
JFK's Art Jozwiak was the class C champion running the course in 16:50.0.  Logan Quist Chaffee paced the Allegany/Limestone Gators to victory by taking second in 17:13. Zac Palcic of Gowanda was my pick to win but came up just short in third place running a 17:22.   Aaron Anderson from Medina took fourth place with a time of 17:26.  Taylor Dewey crossed the line fifth at 17:30 for East Aurora, and Josh Belleville (17:35) of City Honors was the last individual qualifier from class C in sixth.
1997 section six class C/D champion Dustin Thomas did it again this year in class D.  He out ran Trevor Cable (16:59) of Frewsburg to win and lead the Franklinville Panthers to the team championship by covering the course in 16:44.3.  Ryan Coon (17:22) and John  Estes (17:37) did their best for Sherman finishing third and fourth respectively.  Nick Bojanowski did his part in the Franklinville victory taking fifth in 17:42.  Also running well for Sherman was Jeremy Estes (17:45) who finished sixth and earned himself an individual trip to states.  The last qualifying spot went to Aaron Dar from Frewsburg who took seventh with a time of 17:54.
