Martina gained revenge over Lindsay Davenport for her defeat at the Acura Classic back in August by winning in three hard fought sets. Martina needed two tie breaks to eventually win 7-5 6-7 (9-7) 7-6 (7-4).

Saturday 15th October 1997
Martina defeated her doubles partner Arantxa Sanchez Vicario today in three sets yet again. Martina won through 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 and will face Lindsay Davenport in the final. Lindsay being one of the four people to have beaten Martina this season.

Martina battled through another tough match today before beating Anke Huber in three tough sets.

No news today from Villanova, but the draw for the Chase Championships at the end of the season has been made. Martina will play Brenda Schultz-McCarthy.

Wednesday 12th October 1997
Martina narrowly escaped another defeat today against Sabine Appelmans. She eventuallly won in three tough sets 6-2 4-6 6-2.
Martina and Arantxa were not so lucky though as they lost to the unseeded pairing of Mariaan deSwardt Meredith McGrath. Again it was three tough sets for Martina as they lost 7-5 2-6 6-4.

Martina will be playing at the Advanta Championships in Villanova, which start today. Martina recieves a bye for the first round.
