Martina suffered at the 'raquet' of Venus William's today in three sets. Martina lost out in a final place against Anna Kournikova or Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, by losing 2-6 7-5 2-6 to Venus.

Martina has confirmed today that the rumours about her having a boyfriend is TRUE! His name is Julian Alonso. He is a Spanish ATP Tour player currently ranked at No. 43.
Tuesday 24th March 1998
Martina booked her place in the semi final, after a three set win over Serena Williams. Serena gave Martina a run for her money by winning the second set 6-1. Martina did not play that much better than Serena if you compare the statistics, but it shows that Martina's experience won her the match by enabling her to win the big points. Martina eventually winning 6-3 1-6 7-6 (7-4).
Martina partnered Jana Novotna to defeat Rika Hiraki & Mercedes Paz 7-5 6-3 and earn themselves a place in the quarter finals against Elena Likhovtseva & Ai Sugiyama.

Monday 23rd March 1998
Martina booked her place in the quarter final against Serena Williams when she defeated Sandrine Testud 6-3 5-7 6-2.
Sunday 22nd March 1998
Martina recorded her second whitewash of her career when she blitzed the World's No.21,South Africa's Joannette Kruger 6-0, 6-0 in just 35 minutes to reach the fourth round.
Martina, playing with her official partner for the first time this
year, Jana Novotna, defeated Ruano-Pascual & Suarez 6-2 6-2.
They will play Rika Hiraki & Mercedes Paz in the 3rd round.

Friday 20th March 1998
Martina raced into the third round with a 6-1 6-0 win over Chanda Rubin. She will now play Joannette Kruger in round two.
Thursday 19th March 1998
The Lipton Championships begin today. It is considered as the fifth Grand Slam, and Martina will be defending her title that she won last year. Martina has received a Bye for the first round, as she is the top seed.
Tuesday 17th March 1998
Martina has just signed a deal with Ocean Spray. Martina will be their spokesperson, and she will feature in their future adverts and stuff.
