Charities:  Schools Now, Cystic Fibrosis, among others in the Baltimore area.  He has also done charity appearances with Men with Bats (Eric Davis' cancer foundation) in the past

Baseball Buddies:  The pitchers' clique of  Jimmy Key, Scott Kamieniecki, Mike Mussina (during games, anyway); Brady Anderson (presumably, considering they vacationed together).  In Minnesota he roomed with first baseman Paul Sorrento as a rookie, shared an apartment with Chili Davis in 1991, and confided (career-wise) in former personal catcher Junior Ortiz
