Suicide

An article about teenage suicide.
Written by Rosie Nelson.

Teenage problems are some of the toughest problems one can face. It is the period when you choose what you want to do with the rest of your life. It is the period when you form habits that stay with you for the rest of your life. However, some teenagers feel that death is a better solution than facing the many problems of being a teenager.

Suicide is a permenant solution to a temporary problem. There are few problems that are so difficult and painful that death is truly a preferable solution. One must remember that death is permenant; it can never be erased nor conquered. Problems, though, generally fade over time. One example from my own life is when a girl wrongly accused me of hacking into my best friend's email while I was away on vacation. I thought that ending it all would be better than trying to deal with it. I puked eleven times over a period of twenty-four hours, I was so upset. However, I came to the conclusion that I should try to make up with my best friend. I explained the situation to her and we talked it out for a long while, and now we've both finally gotten over it.

A girl I once knew, Amanda, committed suicide earlier this year. I couldn't ever really understand why she did it. A lot of her problem had to do with her and her family's sexual orientation, while she also had cancer and a whole series of other problems. Her problems were great, but..how could she run out in front of a truck? I feel like she created more problems by committing suicide than solutions. She left many true friends behind by leaving us..

If you're thinking about committing suicide, please don't..it hurts more than it helps.
