Chapter 22 “Balthasaar is lost then?” the Kidd asked of Anday, “Did we have any casualties?” Anday looked ready to kill someone. “We lost Carson,” he said quietly. All the remaining pilots sat around a fire that BenBen made without using wood. They were all in deep mourning with heavy hearts. Nick stared into the fire feeling sick about his help in shooting down his own former fellow pilots. He thought he might throw up at any moment. Anday, for perhaps the third time in his life, forgot about himself completely and walked over to Nick. He placed his hand on Nick’s shoulder. “Thank you for your help, Nick. You are a good pilot and we know what a sacrifice this is for you, but you are doing the right thing, you are.” “Thanks,” said Nick, and then he threw up in the fire putting it out. *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* “Concentrate, Hannah’, concentrate. You can lift this sphere, I know you can.” The metal ball was floating higher and higher into the air. She forced herself to think of nothing else except making it fly. “Now make it circle around, Hannah.’” She could feel the metal circling around, but then her thoughts were broken. Nick had come to mind, and she had no idea why. The sphere plummeted to the ground and landed with a thump. “Hannah’, what happened?” “I’m sorry, I just, was thinking about someone.” “There is no time to think about some boy that you are fond of, now is the time to make your magic better. Now again.” “But it wasn’t like-“ “Now, Hannah’.” She concentrated again and the sphere flew around above their heads. ********************* The psychologist sat in a hammock seat brooding. Amus had cast a spell over the entire camp to keep them from having any troubling thoughts and to not realize their missing queen. Currently they were partying without an important thought between them. The Kidd walked up and sat beside the former psychologist. “What is the matter?” asked Matt senior. “Matt, I don’t feel right. Everyone is so happy, and the elves have been partying and Anday and the pilots are all happy, but I feel drunk. I know we haven’t lived here all of our lives, but I don’t remember being anywhere else.” “It is okay, JJ, don’t worry yourself, go and be joyous with everyone else. You are all safe for the time being.” “But I feel like someone is missing, someone… My head hurts, I’m going back out there.” “Yes, JJ, go have fun.” Hmm, thought Matt senior, Perhaps he is even smarter than I thought. He is the only one who noticed anything amiss at all. Interesting.” *|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|* Hannahoko lay on the ground in silent prayer, It is beautiful here, but I miss everyone. Amus tells me that everyone is happy right now and don’t even know I’m gone. He also says that they are well protected by BenBen creations and also BenBen’s heavy forcefield. I’m making progress, I was finally able to eat all of my meals today. I really like Amus, sometimes I wonder, though, if he casts spells on me to make me forget things or if he just messes with my head every once in awhile. Sometimes I think he can read my mind, too, that is wholly unnerving. I may have another magical ‘power’ that I didn’t tell Amus of. I think perhaps I can read people’s minds. Well, not exactly read their minds, but perhaps I can tell when people dearest to me are in danger. It is a strange sensation, and it frightens me a great deal. I had that feeling the night of the ball when Matt was about to be shot. I’ve been having that feeling a lot lately. It doesn’t last all day, but it is enough to make me uneasy. I know everyone is currently safe, Amus even checks on them from time to time, but I have a terrifying feeling that something is going to happen from time to time. I’m not sure, I had better sleep now, though. ****************** “We have to find that girl, Will! I can’t do anything with this penny without her.” “How do you know it is indeed the penny?” asked Will. “I know because I get a sensation of what could happen if I were Hannahoko when I pick it up.” “Than we will find that girl.” *~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Tyler, who was more disoriented than usual, walked up to the Kidd and extended a hand. “Myyyyy name is Tyler,” he said, “I heard shoouree name is Kidd.” “That’s right,” said Matt. “Is your last name Napper, by any chance? This is a greeeeeeeat party. You know who is hot?” Tyler asked. “No, who?” “Eriin, that’s who. You should ashk her out.” “I would, I really would, its just uhhh, she’s blonde. Yeah, that’s it, I don’t like blondes. It has nothing do with our height differences or anything.” “Whooo doeshn’t like blondes? That’s stoopid.” “Yeah, yeah, I know, look at my stereotyping like that.” “Hey did you hear what happened?” “Hear about what?” “I donut know, I just thought maybe you would tell me yash did hear about it and tell me what it was.” “No. Hey, I’m going to go now. Okay, Tyler? Seeya.” “Byer.” The Kidd decided to seek out the psychologist. This was completely wrong. Someone was missing, someone he couldn’t call to mind. And why was everyone partying for the, had it been a week or so? No, this wasn’t right at all. “Matt I need to talk to you.” “About what, JJ?” “I don’t feel right.” “Why not?” the psychologist asked while rubbing his goat-tee. “Who is missing? Someone is missing.” “Perhaps they are just where you haven’t looked yet.” “But I don’t even know who is missing.” “Don’t you? Why aren’t you happy just to party with everyone else?” “Because everything is so wrong.” “Who is gone, JJ? Think about it.” “It is a girl.” “Perhaps a girlfriend you met while partying?” “No, that isn’t it.” “Than who?” “She’s like you. Well, not like you, like you somehow.” “I see,” the psychologist continued to rub his goat-tee. “Is her hair black? No, its brown, maybe.” “What is her name?” “Hime, Hannahokohime.” “Are you certain?” “Yes.” “I am proud of you JJ, you overcame the spell. Now you can sit here with me and make fun of all the partying people.” “But where is Hannahoko?” “She is safe, but I won’t tell you where just now.” “Do you think I would hurt her?” “No, I just don’t want anyone to know where she is through you, by magic or otherwise. I trust you towards my sister, you wouldn’t hurt her.” “I’m not sure sometimes,” the Kidd said in honesty. “Of course you would die if you intentionally did anything to hurt her. But you wouldn’t do that, I trust you.” “Thanks.” ~’~’~’~’~’~’~’~’~’~’~ Hannahoko was lying on the ground ready to fall asleep again, her prayer was as such, Amus thinks I will be done with my training soon, or at least be done for the time being. He says that I will be ready to go get my penny, but far from being done with my training all together. I can lift Amus into the air now if I try very hard. I still have that odd feeling from time to time like something is going wrong, but I’ve decided to try to ignore it. The skill I’ve always been best at was talking to animals, but Amus is helping me to speak to the animals with my mind more and less with my mouth. As far as my healing goes, I’m not sure. It is difficult for me and hard to find something to practice on. Amus has been finding me animals that are wounded to heal. One day I will be able to heal them quickly and others I fail miserably. I’m really trying not to be ‘selfish’ with my magic, but it can be hard. Well, goodnight. |
