Tears of Ice

You looked at me
In that way,
That you did before.
Your deep blue eyes
Send my heart,
Melting to the floor.

You spoke to me
Comforting words,
And sent me on my way.
I wanted to thank you
But I stood there silent,
Knowing not the words to say.

You held me tight
In your arms,
Speechless just as I.
Tears fell down my cheeks.
I saw you bite your lip—
Trying hard not to cry.

***

I looked in your eyes
Filled with tears,
And wondered why I did this to you.
I had torn you apart
With my words—
Not knowing what else to do.

I spoke to you
Trying to reverse
What I’d said so long ago.
Since what I said,
I noticed you change.
I saw you open up—you started to grow.

I held you tight—
Close to my heart,
Trying to mend what I’d broken.
Your tears of ice felt cold
And your love for me,
Was what those tears had spoken.
