I look around,
Really looking—
Really paying attention.
I listen.
I really listen to what is said—
Around me or to me.
I act.
I act upon what I feel is right.
I watch out for my friends—
Others too!—
So they are not hurt.
Hurt by words.
By other’s actions;
Mistakes.
Many are hurt—
Ones I can’t save.
I can’t save them all,
But still I try.
And I never give up—
Never.
I would not have to watch
For others
To fall,
If people weren’t so cruel.
One word can shatter a soul.
Believe me.
I’ve felt it.
I cannot stop everything from happening,
But I can try.
I can make an attempt
To prevent it.
How?
I’ve opened my ears, eyes, and heart—
All three—
To listen, see and love.
I can take one step—
Maybe just one—
In trying to help.
One step to inspire others.
Others to do the same.
Others to help.
I can’t stop cruel intentions myself,
But together…
