I have speech and language delay, and something called "Failure to thrive" which mommy says is the reason why I am so small. I am 43 inches tall and weigh 32 pounds (with my pretty red cowboy boots on :o) Everyone says that I don't look a day over 3 hehe when they find out that I am 5 they can't believe it! But that's ok cause it lets me be mommy's baby a little while longer :o)
I have to go to speech therapy two times a week, to work on my speech. The lady there says that I talk like a two year old, but I think that I talk better than that :o) Mommy understands me, and Daddy understands me, but other people ask mommy "what did she say?" all the time. That makes me mad, because I know what I said, and if they would just listen a little better they could understand me too. It makes me sad that people don't take the time to really listen to kids, they just kind of say yes even though they don't know what we said.
I used to go to Kindergarten, but mommy took me out because I had a bad athsma attack while I was there. I haven't seen mommy that mad since the doctor at the emergency room told me I was ok, when I had double pneumonia. My real doctor said that if Mommy hadn't stood there and fought with the doctor that I would have died that night. I am so proud of my mommy... she fights for all of us, no matter what the problem is. She isn't afraid of anyone!
When she took me out of kindergarten, she went to the school and told them that she wasn't going to let me come back. You see, I was at luch one day and my throat got sore, so I told the lady in the lunchroom. She didn't tell my teacher Miss Grace, so she didn't call mommy. If she had told Miss Grace, Mommy would have come down and gotten me and given me my breathing treatment. But she didn't tell anyone, so when I got home, I couldn't breathe, and my lips and fingernails were blue. Mommy got scared and carried me in the house and hooked me up to my "machine" to try to help me breathe better. While I was getting my treatment, mommy was talking to my Doctor and getting madder by the minute at the school. I went to the Doctor and they said that I was lucky this time... Maybe mommy will tell you the rest of the story a little later.
Mommy has made an award for me to give out to other special needs kids too :o) She calls us "Special Angels" and also made a web ring so that parents of kids like me can find pages that might help them out.
Please come back soon and visit me. I will have alot of really neat stuff for you to check out!
