Enrolment Ceremony

We usually start by talking to the parents and saying:

For those of you who haven’t heard the story of the Brownies I suggest you take the time to read this wonderful story that is her Brownie Program Book. It is the story of how a little girl goes on a mission to find some Brownies that her Grandma told her about. All she knew was they were helpful little people who know when to help and do so without anyone ever knowing. She wants to find these Brownies and scold them because they never help her Mom or Grandma with the chores. Whenever she comes back from playing and playing all she ever sees is poor Mom and Grandma working and working. The Wise Owl in the forest tells her if she looks in the magic pond she will see where she can find a Brownie and of course when she looks in the pond she sees…well we’ll let the girls here tonight finish the story. Enjoy!

Each Circle comes up one at a time.

First Circle:

Circle Leader Says: You’ve been working hard. Are you ready to become real Brownies now?

New Girls Say: Yes

Circle Seconder Says: Then follow us to the magic pond.

Girls cross the river and everyone sings:

The Magic Pond it waits for you

Look in it while we sing

If you can see some Brownies there

You'll join our Brownie Ring.

At the pond the Circle Leader/Seconder twist & turn their new Brownies and everyone says:

Twist me and turn me and show me an elf

I looked in the water and there saw

Then the New Brownies ONLY from that circle look in the pond and say one at a time "Myself"

Circle Leader brings girls to Brown Owl

Circle Leader: Brown Owl, _________ and ________ want to become real Brownies now.

Brown Owl: You know you must take your promise seriously and work at being a Brownie every day

New Brownies: Yes Brown Owl

Brown Owl: Good. Now I’ll count to three and then I would like to hear you say your promise together for me.

Brownies come to Toadstool and make their promise as a Group.

Girls are pinned by Snowy Owl and Brown Owl.

The Circle then sings their circle song around the Toadstool and sits down while next Circle comes up and so on until all are done.
