LEND A HAND BROOM FRIDGE MAGNET

An easy, non-messy craft for one of your first meetings to help reinforce the idea of our Brownie Motto "Lend A Hand". We have the girls sit in a circle around the Guider. We give them each a bag containing the following:

• • 11 Heart Shaped Pony Beads -mixed colours (we print the letters on ahead of time with permanent marker, making sure we don’t use two of the same colours for two letters that are placed in a row---two beads have no letter on them)
  • 2 brown chenille stems
  • 1 wicker 2" or 3" broom
  • 2 med sized peel & stick magnets for back (we cut from the rolls)

We tell the girls to fold in half one of their chenille stems

so the two separate pieces are at the bottom.

We ask them to find the letter L and place it up through the

bottom up to the top of the looped part of stem.

As they do this we ask them to think of things that start with

the letter L and how they could lend a hand (for example

"livingroom" I could help tidy it up, "litter" I could tell my

friends not to do it.) We then continue on for all the letters

thinking of ways to lend a hand. When they are finished putting

all the beads on we then attach the broom to the handle by wrapping

the other chenille stem around both parts. We then peel and stick

magnet to the back. We send the girls home with a lend a hand chart

for them to colour in each time they lend a hand. The broom fridge

magnet is used to attach their Lend A Hand chart to the fridge so they

won’t forget!

We also sing Lend A Hand Songs,and do the Lend A Hand Cheer with

pom poms.
