TV Guide's Review of Fraggle Rock in Text Format

January 22 to January 29, 1983

What's 18 Inches Tall and Speaks Fragglish?

Can't stand the suspense, eh? Well, it's a Fraggle, folks-and Fraggles live in Fraggle Rock, which is both a maze of caverns and the title of a new half-hour children's series on pay-TV's Home Box Office. The latest brainstorm of Jim Henson (creator of the Muppets), Fraggles are small, furry characters who like to sing, feast, frolic, wear silly hats, gather radishes and engage in skilled pursuits, such as balancing pickles on the ends of their noses. The stars are Gobo, an almost fearless leader; Mokey, a sensitive, artistic type; Wembley, who's small, insecure and eager to please; Red, a hyperactive tomboy; and Boober, whose two great obsessions are death and laundry. Boober is also superstitious, pessimistic and paranoid. He sounds like our kind of Fraggle-perfectly normal.
