Welcome to my News Page.
This is where I will be putting all the news about me and what I have been doing. Hope you enjoy reading about me.
March 2002........
WOW. It has been a really long time since I updated this page! I have done so many things in the last few years, so I decided to just erase all that other stuff and start over.
In school, I am in the 8th grade and getting ready for High School in 4 months. I have to pick out what classes I want to take for the first year. This is a hard decision because there are so many choices, and you have to stick with your choices for the whole year! Of course they make you take things like English, Math, Science, PE etc. But you have to choose what kind of English, Math and Science. Plus your elective classes. Sure hope I make the right choices!
I am a Cadet Girl Scout, and we have a lot of activities in our troop that keep us really busy.
One trip we made was a back packing trip for 3 days in the redwood forests. It was really fun, but tiring. We actually saw a bear den, and decided maybe we shouldn't hang around too long, never know when the bear may decide to come back! We had to distill our own drinking water and use compasses as part of our trip requirements. That was kind of hard, but fun to do.
Recently we had an over night trip to a rock climbing place. The Girl Scout Council rented the facility after hours, so we got to climb all night long. It was kind of scary to climb that high, but it was really fun.
Two of my troop friends and I have just finished our Silver Projects. We organized an event for the Brownie troops in our area. Our event was called "Open the Covers". It was to introduce the Brownies to different books to read. Each station had a different book highlighted and activites to do. Over 200 brownies came to the event, so I think it was very successful.
Our job as the Silver Project was to find a place to have the event, collect all the books, decide on activities for each book, get all the materials we needed and most important, get other Cadet Scouts to help work at the event. It was a lot of work, and now we can really appreciate how hard it is to put on an event like this. We will be awarded our Silver Project Pins at a dinner in a few months.
Now I have to decide on a Gold Project for next year! This project I have to do all by myself and it will take a lot of planning. I am thinking about organizing something special for the Senior Citizen apartments maybe for the holidays. I don't really know yet.
Got any ideas?
