One activity available at our school
is our Band for those people who
are interested in learning to
play a musical instrument.

We have tutoring once a week and
band practice once a week. Last
term we performed at the Engadine
Music Festival. Our Junior Band won
the Silver Award and the Senior
Band won the Gold Award.

When out school performed at our
Performing Arts Evening we started
off by playing "The Gates of Orion".

We all like Glenmore Road School
Because our friends are really cool.
We all enjoy playing games,
We get school photographs in frames.
We know our teachers are really great,
Because they're under 48......

Except our teacher......

DRAMA

In drama classes we play lots of fun games
with our drama teacher, Justine. We also
do a lot of work on our acting skills and
work a lot of the time in groups.

In "Special Drama" we still play some games
but most weeks we practice doing plays.
On the Performing Arts Evening the Junior
Talent Group performed 8 Little Princesses
which was a play we had written ourselves.
It was our first public performance and
it was a great success.

PHILOSOPHY

Once a week at school we have
philosophy. It's about respecting
other people's opinions.

We read a fantasy story.

We think - we think - we think
Then we blink - we blink - we blink

We then come up with some questions
to do with the story which the whole
group tries to answer.

Claire - Year 5/6 Giallo

All our friends from Glenmore Road
Are always in a happy mode.
Once a week we get awards,
And everyone gives us applause.

Alania and Nushi - 4 Nero

ASSEMBLY
All the classes line up outside the hall on Friday after
recess. Once everyone has arrived in the hall, assembly
gets started. First the teachers hand out Merit Cards to
anyone who has won one and then there is an item. Each
week a class shows some work, sings a song or performs a play.

After the item is finished the house points and birthdays
are announced and then we sing the National Anthem.

The whole assembly is run by Year 5/6.

ABORIGINAL CULTURE WEEK
In Aboriginal Culture Week some Aboriginal
people came to our school and taught
us some dances, told us some stories and
taught us some Aboriginal words.

They taught us how to make ochre. You get
some rocks, grind them up and add some
water. We celebrate Aboriginal Week so
that we can learn about Aboriginal Culture.
It was unique and fabulous.

The Cottage
THE COTTAGE
The Cottage is a place where, if your
parents can't pick you up on time, you can
go to play. It is after school care. The
Cottage used to be the Principal's house.

At the Cottage there are Melinda, Sophie
and Sam to play games with us and look
after us. We can do things like marbling
or play hockey or play in the sandpit and
there's also things like face painting.

We can go to the before school care
and in the holidays as well.

THE RAINFOREST
The Rainforest area has been a part
of our school for about three years
now. Each child in the school has
put in a lot of effort into helping
with the weeding and planting of trees.

TENNIS LESSONS
Every Monday I go to tennis lessons on
our tennis court. My teacher's name
is Susan. I like going to tennis
because it's fun and I am getting good
at it. I want to win some trophies.

David - 2 Viola

CHESS
Every Tuesday at school we play chess in
Mr. Wallace's room. An experienced and
talented chess player, Dr. Bodlander, comes
in to teach the beginners how to play and to
teach the older, more experienced players,
some good moves, how to get quick checkmates,
forks and traps. We play against other
schools. Mr. Wallace and Dr. Bodlander choose
4 people to be in the team. Chess is a good
game to learn to play if you don't already
know how to play it.

GREEK
Every Thursday at 3.45, six people,
including myself attend a Greek Class.
The teacher is Miss Efe who teaches us
the Greek alphabet, animal names,
colours and heaps of other things.

I enjoy Greek and I would like to thank
Miss Efe for her hard work (and the
lollies she brings with her).

FRENCH

A few people at Glenmore Road go to French lessons
after school in the hall on Wednesday afternoons.
We get taught by our fabulous French teacher,
Emanuelle McDonald. We all like it very much. We
think that she has put a lot of effort into teaching
us.

Some people have been doing it for a few years like
us. Other people have just started this year.

THE K-2 DANCE GROUP

The K-2 Dance Group did the Cat Dance
this year. We danced at the Seymour
Centre and it was a groovy dance with
groovy music.

We were all black cats.

The Junior Dance Group

THE JUNIOR DANCE GROUP
We joined the junior dance group
because we thought it would be
great fun and exciting - and it was!
Mrs. Koffel is our choreographer and
she is very good at it. She makes
up some really good dance moves. For
the Performing Arts night we danced
to "Together Again" by Janet Jackson
and we had a great time - but we were
a bit nervous before we started. We
also danced at the Seymour Centre as
part of the Southern District
Dance Festival.

Lukas and Zeke - 4 Verde

Our Senior Dance Group consists of
Year 5/6 students, both boys and
girls, and it is not selective so
anyone can join.

We have performed at The Seymour
Centre, Bondi Pavillion, The
Westfield Shopping Mall and have
given many performances at school.

We have had a great time
performing in front of spectators.

Heading - Our Choirs

The Senior Choir
Some senior students from Glenmore
Road belong to The Bondi District
"Sing 2001" Choir. They rehearse
once a week with choristers from 15
other schools in the District. They
are eventually going to join up with
other District Choirs across the State
to perform at major events such as The
Pacific School Games, the Olympic
Festival, the Paralympic Festival and
the Centenary of Federation celebrations
to name just a few. Our next big event
will be in Sydney Opera House.

Ms. Halpin

The Senior Choir is a large number of senior students who sing for the
Opera House Choir. We sing a great selection of songs. The Senior
Choir rehearses every Friday morning in school and sometimes we join up
with other schools to perfect all the songs.
