Deborah

The story of Deborah can be found in the book of Judges,
books 4 & 5. The fourth chapter is the story- the 5th a song.

Let's Begin

After Ehud died, the Israelites once again sinned snd
the Lord handed them over to Jabin, a king who reigned
is Hazar. The commander of Jabin's army was Sisera.
Sisera's army had 900 iron chariots and he was cruel to
the Israelites for twenty years. They called to the Lord for help.
Deborah was a prophetess. She led Israel at that time.
She held her court under a palm tree now more commonly
known as the Palm of Deborah. Israelites came to her
because of the cruel things that Sisera had been doing.
She sent for Barak and said to him, "The LORD God of
Israel commands you, go and take 10,000 men with you to
Mount Tabor. I will lure Sisera with his chariots and
troops and give him into your hands."
Barak agreed, but said that he wouldn't go if she didn't go.
"Very well," Deborah said, "I will go with you. But
because of the way you are going about this, the honor
will not be yours for theLORD will hand Sisera over to a
woman." SO Deborah went with Barak to the battle. 10,000
men followed.
When Sisera found out what was going to happen he sent
all of his troops to the site. Deborah said to Barak,
"Go! For this day the LORD will give Sisera into your
hands. Has not the LORD gone before you?" So Barak went
down Mt. Tabor followed by 10,000 men. At Barak's move,
the LORD routed Sisera and his armies by the sword.
Sisera left his chariot and ran. Barak's armies pushed
back Sisera's armies until they had killed them all.
Sisera fled to a woman name Jael's tent. Jael invited
him in. When Sisera was sleeping, Jael pounded a wooden
tent peg through his head and he died.
