Welcome to my home page!

My name is Nathaniel Blain and I am just a few months old. My daddy is helping me to design this page, but I will be helping him in a few months. I am growing fast, over 90%-ile in weight and over 75%-ile in height. That's because mommy loves me a whole lot and feeds me all day long. Please sign in my guestbook so I know who visited here when I am old enough to read.

This is the story of how it all started.

Before I was born, my mommy walked around with a great big stomach, although the neighbors did not even know she was pregnant until she was 7 months along. She said her back hurt a lot, but I was very comfy inside. I moved my arms and legs around all the time, and sometimes I got the hiccups, which made mommy and daddy laugh while watching mommy's tummy bounce up and down. I often heard Snowball (our Lhasa Apso) barking, but it didn't bother me. In fact, I grew very used to sounds and activity, especially the music of my mommy playing oboe. I'll tell you more with other photos below.

It all started when mommy and daddy met in Spanish class at UCLA. Next thing you know a wedding was planned -- look at how young they look below. Dad's friends took him out to Benihana's for dinner, but his friend Dave was reluctant to tell the Japanese waitress "ogina oshiri" to thank her for dinner. One year later, dad and mom were eating stale wedding cake they had saved in the freezer with Grandma Julian. Who would have thought that I would be Grandpa and Grandma Julian's 15th great grandchild? Our future pets, Snowball, Kitty (Buttons), and Annabelle are thrown in so they wouldn't feel left out.

The photos below are of my mommy (when she was very pregnant) and daddy in his new jacket, which he tells me is his only photo where he looks somewhat stylish. That's Daddy building my crib, and Aunt San May holding a "My Aunt Loves Me" bib.

I was born on April 23, 1997, 7 pounds 12 ounces, and 20 1/2 inches. Grandma Enid and Grandpa George were at the hospital with mom and dad when I was born (see my first photo below). The hospital photographer even took a closeup photo the day after I was born (see below). It's hard to believe that I went from a tiny fetus in the ultrasound below to a little baby with a big toe inherited from my dad (see my footprint below).

My parents were so proud that they sent the baby announcement below to all of their friends and relatives. Many people sent me cute outfits, many of which I have outgrown, and a bunch of really cool toys. Daddy baked me a BIRTHday cake. I was too young to try some, but they said it was delicious.

Can you tell which baby is me, dad, and mom?

Mom and dad were so excited that they took a whole bunch of photos of me. But sometimes they catch me making funny faces. The people at the photo studios call us by our first names. I got baptized at St. Gregory's Church, and they dressed me in a white tuxedo with a silly hat.

I can't wait until my next trip to visit grandpa and grandma!
