Imagine yourself basking in the sun, snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea, searching for lost treasure, playing beach volleyball, or just plain relaxing while you're enjoying the rich, lush scenery. You'll do all this...and more, on your S.S. Cepheus Vacation Cruise.
Day One - Plan to arrive at Port Mouse early enough to check your bags, get your necessary paperwork, your cabin assignments, then just sit back and relax until it's time to leave.
As soon as the boat leaves, please meet behind the Bridge for your Lifeboat/Life Jacket drill. Life Jackets are located in the closet of all staterooms, as well as in the storage boxes behind the Bridge. But don't worry, we've never pulled them out yet, except to give demos during the safety drill!
Day Two - Here we are in the capital of the British Virgin Islands. The British Virgin Islands are located sixty miles east of Puerto Rico, and twenty miles northwest of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The Islanders speak English, and Mouse dollars are accepted!
There's something for everyone to choose from. A day trip up Sage Mountain is available. Sage Mountain is the highest point on Tortola, at 1,780 feet, and contains the last remaining rain forest. Hike the Rain Forest and Mahogany Forest Trails.
There's also other beaches, charming boutiques, outdoor vendors, and lots of quaint little restaurants. By the way, the Cepheus will remained docked during all island stays so you are welcome to return to the boat at any point during each day. Noon and evening meals will be available in the Galley (except for the two picnic meals planned on the beach). Breakfast is served in the Morningstar Cafe.
Just be sure you're back on board for departure promptly at 11:00 pm.
Day Three - This is our sailing day. You will see most of the islands in the British Virgin Islands as we remain in a calm area created by the surrounding islands.
Columbus discovered the B.V.I. on his second voyage in 1493, there are 35 to 40 main islands, some 15 to 20 of which are inhabited. Did you know "Treasure Island," by Robert Louis
Stevenson, was written about Norman Island, one of the BVI? Today, many of the islands are still in the same pristine condition that inspired Stevenson. We'll be visiting Norman Island on Day Five.
Day Four - Hey girls! Here's our chance to shine. Jost Van Dyke Island was named for a female pirate!! Yup, that's right! It has wonderful beaches and only two small settlements.
Today's the day to enjoy the beach, swim, play a little beach volleyball, or just sit in the sun. There will be a beach bar-b-que at suppertime, don't miss that, cheese'mores and everything!
Day Five - Norman Island: a true pirate's hideaway. Today you can go snokeling in the caves at Treasure Point, watch for loot rumored to be hidden by pirates. In the early 1900's, some treasure was actually found in these caves, so keep your eyes open!
Day Six - Cooper Island: More beaches! But wait, there's more. Rent a windsurfer or a sea kayak and go sailing on your own. Snorkeling is available again, for those of you who missed it yesterday.
One word of warning: on the northwest coast is Manchioneel Bay. It's named after a tree that grows there--a poisonous apple tree, so don't eat the fruit or you'll have to go to the First Aid station on the S.S. Cepheus!
Day Seven - Beef Island: It used to be used for cattle, but now it has an airport with two runways and a great beach at Trellis Bay. We'll be having a noon picnic here, so join us for a wonderful lunch and games afterwards.
Trellis Bay is located on Beef Island, a breezy beach loved by board sailors and shell seekers. You can rent equipment and try boardsailing yourself, or relax and watch. Beach combing is great here.
If you didn't see everything you wanted to on Tortola during Day One, now's your chance to catch up. Beef Island is connected to Tortola by the short and narrow Queen Elizabeth Bridge. Spend the afternoon on Tortola, or just relax on the beach on Beef Island. Queen Elizabeth's last trip here was in the 1950's and the Lincoln Convertible she used is still here!
Don't miss our 7:00 pm departure! We'll spend the night and tomorrow morning sailing back to Port Mouse. Sleep tight, enjoy your dreams, for tomorrow your S.S. Cepheus Cruise Vacation ends.
Now that you've read the whole itinerary, you've learned just about everything you need to know to go on your Treasure Hunt.
