The Empty Tomb

A secret follower of Jesus', named Joseph of Arimathea,
asked to have the body of Jesus for burial. Mary, mother of
Jesus was still standing there when Joseph came to take the
nails from her son's body, and to take him down from the cross.
Carefully, they wrapped the broken form in a shroud of linen.
Then, Mary Magdelene and a few other women from Galilee,
sorrowfully, took the precious burden to a garden place
nearby, where Joseph had a tomb.
In two days, the body could be properly annointed, but for
now, with Jesus' body inside, they rolled a great stone in
front of the entrance, and the high priests sent guards to
stand watch.

Early Sunday morning (2 days later), Mary Magdelene went with
two other women to the tomb, bringing spices for the burial
rites. When she saw that the stone had been rolled away she
cried, "They have taken our Lord away!" And as she stood by
the empty tomb weeping she heard a voice from behind her say,
"Lady, why do you weep?" She turned, and seeing a man that
she thought was the gardener, she cried out, "If you have taken
him sir, please tell me where he is!" But it was Jesus. He
spoke her name, and she knew him. She sank to her knees and
and kissed his feet.

Later that day, he visited with his disciples, who touched his
wounds, and heard his call to them, to go forth and preach
his word to every nation, to baptize the people and teach
them repentance and the forgiveness of sins. Jesus also
promised to be with us until the end of time.

And before he ascended to our Father in Heaven, many people
witnessed the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
