you done me wrong shaw-daaaay...

READ. IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

I write. I used to write because I liked to. Now I write because I have to. I'm hoping to go back to the "liked to" stage again someday. Perhaps after high school...

Frederick Douglass
An essay that relates a quote by Gandhi to three of Douglass' works. I actually got an A+ on this paper! Go me.

Racism in Huck Finn
This crappy thing, which I wrote in the course of 2 hours THE DAY IT WAS DUE, actually received a B+. Not bad for the effort I put into it. Anyway, yeah, this discusses the common racism issue in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Mary Rowlandson
This is just a paragraph, but still, it's something I wrote, and it's not that bad. I got an A+ on this... don't know why, but oh well, it's decent.

Analysis of "Thanatopsis"
This is just an essay that I wrote for a test. I decided to put it up here because there just needs to be more stuff here.

Video Game Censorship
We had to write a persuasive essay, and I chose video game censorship. I don't like it. I got an A on this, but I still think it sucks.

The Scarlet Letter
Me no like The Scarlet Letter. Is very bad book. Me go cry now. By the way, I got an A on this, but I still think this is a very bad essay that was almost completely made up of bs, seeing as how I think reading The Scarlet Letter is the equivalent of repeatedly jamming a rusty nail into your eye.

Robert Frost
This is just a report I did on Robert Frost. As usual, I was writing it super early in the morning, so that's why it sucks. And yes, the last two paragraphs were kinda thrown in at the last minute and don't really transition well and I'm a bad writer and I suck and I'm gonna go stab myself now. Bye.

The millennium
I just recently found this in a drawer somewhere. It's a pretty old essay, dating back to 8th grade. The topic was the oncoming millennium. I'm trying to remember what I got on this... oh yeah, I got a 3/4, the best possible grade being a 4. I had a really hard English teacher, but it's all gravy, cause she taught me a LOT of stuff. Anyway, yeah. Kinda went off on a tangent there.

Characteristics of democracy / undemocracy in the New World colonies
Exactly what it says. This essay is pretty recent. It was our first essay of the year for A.P. History. There were 4 questions to choose from, and I chose this one, simply because I could think of at least a dozen facts to support my thesis off the top of my head. I got an 11 on this thing, the best grade being a 15 (bah). That roughly translates to an 85. Um... yeah. I use WAY too many parantheses in this essay.

A reflection on Dante's Inferno
Well, we had to write a paragraph of reflection on the 10 or so cantos we had read of The Inferno so far. So I chose to write about how the sinners in Dante's Hell were punished, and the idea that Virgil could not pass the Gate to the City of Dis because he himself was a sinner (he needed heavenly aid). This paper hasn't been graded yet, but I'm kinda worried... cause I don't really like how I wrote this thing. Oh well.

Tyranny in the North American colonies
Blarg. This sucks. I wrote it for a test I had in History. I missed 2 on this essay, I guess that's good. But I still really hate this paper. I still don't know exactly what I got on the essay, but I did get an 84 on the test. Um... yay?

The Devil in Massachusetts
This is an essay I wrote for History on a book called The Devil in Massachusetts. The book's about the Salem witch trials, and it was actually quite intriguing... well, to me at least. Anyway, I had to write a book review on it, so here it is. I hope I get a good grade on this one!

Articles of Confederation
An analysis of the usefulness of the Articles of Confederation. I got a 12 out of 15 on this, which is about a 87 or so. But yeah. This was a DBQ (Document Based Question). I dun like them very much.

Nationalism vs. Sectionalism
After the war of 1812, the United States was nationalistic and sectionalistic. Yadayada. I got -1 on this, it was an essay that accompanied a test I took. I did pretty bad on the test, but this helped propel my grade a bit. Yay.

Manifest Destiny
This was just an essay I had to write for a History test. Obviously, it's about manifest destiny. I don't think this is the best thing I've ever written, but oh well.

Reform Movements
Here's a Document Based Question I wrote about the reform movements taking place from 1825 to 1850. I got an 11 on this, which is about an 85 (-6). There were 9 documents, I used 5. I guess that's okay.

Native Americans
So we had to pick two quotes and write an essay about the Native Americans using those quotes. And I did that. But I got an 88 on this thing due to the fact that I basically make NO mention of policy toward them in the 20th century except in the conclusion, which doesn't make sense, since I never mentioned it, period. Damnit.

Booker T. Washington vs. W.E.B. Du Bois
This was a DBQ I wrote in February. How fitting for Black History Month, eh? It's just about opposing policies of Booker T. and Du Bois. I got a 9 on it which is.. I think.. a 70 something. GAH! Well, I didn't exactly address the question. I suck.

The League of Nations and the Treaty of Versailles
This here is an essay I wrote for the last test I had in History. This was the easiest, nicest question on the choice of essay questions, so I chose it. It's basically about why the U.S. didn't join the League of Nations. I got -2 on it, and an 85 on the test, which is adequate, I guess.

Kate's Metamorphosis
Thiiiiiiis would be a paper I wrote on the Taming of the Shrew. I don't even know what grade I received yet, since it's fairly recent. But yeah. It's about one of the central character's transformation from a shrew to an obedient woman! Yayyy! I got an A on this... unbelievable.

Scarcity of Individualism in Brave New World
Yeah... I wrote this in the course of about 6 or 7 hours. This was the last paper of the year for English. I got a B on this... I wanted an A, but oh well. This one's about... well.. uh, just read the title. :P

Meeting Ken
We were told to write a story about an experience that was both new and confounding. So, of course, I chose the first time I met Ken. Some details have been made more dramatic here, but the basic story is the same. I had all kinds of different ideas for the story, and I'm going to start writing those soon.
