Materials
Old-fashioned clothespins
Popsicle sticks
Wooden coffer stirrers
Fine-point marker
Paint and small paintbrushes
Small wooden beads
Glue
White yarn and ribbon
Masking tape
Gold-colored thread
Before you glue your plane
together, you should paint
its body (the
clothespins), its wings (the
popsicle
sticks), and its propeller
( the stirrer).
With a paintbrush or marker,
you can decorate
the wooden bead with a Santa
face and hat.
Next, glue one wing on top
of the clothespin
and one wing to the bottom
of it. Glue the
pilot's head in place
just in front of the wings.
Snap the stirrer in half and
affix one half onto
the plane for a propeller.
Decorate the biplane
with stripes, numbers,
and letters, polka dots,
or holiday designs.
Poke a piece of white yarn
onto the top of the
bead to make a pom-pom on Santa's
hat and tie a short length of ribbon around Santa's neck
for his aviator's scarf.
Use the gold thread to hang
on tree.
