Patriotic Pinwheels

Pretty patriotic pinwheels to use while marching in a parade or playing at your family picnic.

Materials
6 inch square piece of stiff paper
Ruler
Pencil (sharpened)
Pencil with eraser (not sharpened)
Straight pin
Scissors
Markers or crayons (red and blue)

Instructions:

Use the sharpened pencil and a ruler to draw a line from corner to corner so you have a big X.  Do this on both sides.

Use your markers or crayons to color one blue triangle and one red triangle as in the picture above.  Do this on both sides.

Draw dots on the corners and center of the paper.

Using the scissors, cut along the lines your drew, but don't cut all the way through to the center of the square.  Stop cutting before you reach the center.

Fold the corners into the center of the square lining up the dots on top of each other.

Push the straight pin through the corner dots, through the dot in the center of the square, and into the side of the Pencil's eraser.

Blow into the pinwheel, walk or run with it in your hand, and watch it spin.

If it isn't spinning too well, try moving the paper away from the eraser.
