Yarn Dolls

This is a nice rainy day project !

Materials

Skeins of yarn

Book

To form a yarn doll's body, loosely wrap yarn
around a book, about seventy (70) times,
to create a thick hank. Slip a 6-inch piece
of yarn between the hank and the book and
use it to tie the strands together. Slide the
hank off the book.

Create the doll's head by tightly tying
another piece of yarn around the bundle
an inch from the top. Add eyes and a
mouth by tying contrasting yarn around
single strands on the face and clipping
the ends close to the knot. Next, cut
the loop at the bottom of the hank.

1. For arms, pull one quarter of the
strands to each side and tie them at the
wrists, as shown. (Picture above)
Trim the yarn 1/2 inch below the wrists.
Then, tie a strand of yarn around the
doll's waist, leaving the yarn loose
to resemble a skirt. Or, make pants
by dividing the into two (2) bunches
and tying them at the ankles.

2. For the wig, wind another hank of yarn.
Tie together one end and snip the other.
Feed a piece of yarn through the doll's
head and use it to tie on the wig.
Then, you can cut bangs, make ponytails
or add a hair ribbon.
