Materials: 1 large glass jar with
lid Children! You will need an adult to help you with this project! Instructions: 1. Take your pen (or whatever you are using to "poke" with) and poke 6-8 holes in the lid of the jar. This is so the bugs can breathe. Get an adult to help you with this part! 2. Take a small amount of dirt, grass, or sod, and cover about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of the bottom of the jar with the dirt, grass, or sod. 3. Place the leaves in the jar however you would like to, in a creative way for decoration and for the bugs to munch on as a snack. You will need to check on the bug jar every day to make sure that the bugs have fresh leaves to eat :) 4. Go outside and search for bugs!! This is the best part :) When you find some fun bugs, collect them in the jar. You can study the bugs and write down in your Nature Notebook what they look like. Then you can look up what kind of bugs they are in bug books!!
