Archived News (Prebirth-June 2000)

15 June 2000 - 15 July 2000

Maighan is now 3 years old!!  She is getting so big - almost too big :-).

Maighan went to Utah again the last week of June.  And her Daddy was able to go this time.  We went to see Uncle Ron off on the plane to Pennsylvania.  And Daddy spent the week looking around for job possibilities.  Maighan had a lot of fun!  She went a few times to McDonalds for an ice cream cone (she learned really fast how to eat one), and to play on the slides.  And she had a fun birthday party and her Great Aunt Gwen's house.    Maig also got to take a trip on the train in Sandy to Temple Square.  She thought the train was a lot of fun.  She saw Testaments in the Legacy Theater, and saw the Temple in Temple Square.  Even though we had a lot of fun, and Maig did very well on the trip, it's taking some time to get him back on a normal schedule.

Maighan loved the Fourth of July.  I think this is the first time that she really "saw" the fireworks.  She really seemed to enjoy them. But I'm a bit upset because we didn't get any pictures.  I left the camera in Utah :-(.

Maighan had another birthday party at grandma's house.  She knew exactly what to do :-).

Maig loves playing with Mikael.  It's so much fun watching them chase each other around - or play together on the floor.  Maig's just having a bit of a problem with sharing - she has a tendency to take things away from him.  But she's learning that Mikael doesn't sit still when she does. :-).

15 July 2000 - 1 October 2000

A lot has happened in the last couple of months.  Maighan has grown so much - it's easier for her to say what she means.  She's a little girl now - not a infant, baby or toddler anymore.  It's exciting to see, but kind of sad for Mommy too.  Maighan loves puzzles, and has taught herself how to put more complicated ones together.

After all the running around back and forth to Utah at the beginning of summer, we all finally settled back into sort of normalcy.  Maig had another Birthday party with Grandpa and Grandma Hall.  She got lots of summer clothes then - which she really needed.  She also got to swim in a big swimming pool.  She still has a fear of floating - Mommy and Daddy were hoping to teach her how.  She loved jumping and dunking though....and splashing her brother and uncles.

Daddy finally got a new job after many weeks of searching and struggling.  And a new routine was started - which has made things run a bit smoother.  Maig had a bit of a hard time getting used to Daddy being gone when she woke up, but now she enjoys her quiet Mommy time in the morning before Mikael wakes up.

Maig and Mik got a new little swimming pool from Daddy in August.  They love to swim.  Because our air conditioner has been broken, we spent the hot days at Grandma and Grandpa Van's house to stay cool.  Maig loves playing in the sand, eating popsicles, and swimming there.  Pretty soon Mikael will be old enough to join her - and then more fun begins!

We made a quick weekend trip over to Angwin - Napa Valley area - to visit Great Grandpa Ungermann.  Daddy and Grandpa Van were helping him put in his new computer.  Maighan saw the wild turkeys that wandered the area - they even allowed her to get really close the morning we had to come home!  There was also a horse, goats, and chickens at the ranch there.  She thought it was funny how the rooster kept crowing at her.

Last Sunday, Maig was invited to a friends birthday party and Chucky Cheese.  What a huge experience!  Maig had so much fun.  She loved the pizza.  And she absolutely loved the "Animal Band" that kept playing - though at first she wasn't sure about it all.  The cake was yummy -- but the most fun was all the games! p; She did really well for her first experience like this.  Mommy and Daddy were really proud of her - she behaved so much better then some of the other children there (most who were older then her!).

Mommy and Daddy are so very proud of Maighan.  She's a very smart little girl.  And except for a very small issue of needing the toy Mikael has, she's a very good big sister.  She always wants him to play, helps Mommy get him ready in the morning, and is good and quiet when he's napping.  It's the best to see them playing with each other and loving each other so very much.

1 October 2000 - June 2001
This has been a long year - as you can tell from the fact that this hasn't been updated in almost that long.  Maighan is turning into a Little Lady.  There is so much she loves to do.

Halloween was a blast!  Maighan wanted to be a Bunny, so Mommy made a simple winter rabbit costume.  She had so much fun showing everyone her "Cottone Tail" and "Floppy Ears".  But her favorite part of Halloween seemed to be carving her pumpkin.  She picked her own pumpkin, and then with Daddy's help decided what she wanted the face to look like.  And the funnest part was cleaning it out.  She was so proud that she could do it all by herself.  At the Hallowwen party the church put together, Maig played lots of fun games and even had her face painted.  She even showed her little brother how to "Trick-or-Treat".  But Daddy seemed to have the most fun.  He dressed up as a "Wizard" and walked around with his two "Familiars" (Mik was a black bear).

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun.  Maighan got to spend some time with family in Utah.  She also got to see Temple Square with all the Christmas lights.  She didn't seem to mind the cold too much either.

Maighan once again loved Christmas.  She got to spend Christmas Eve at Grandma's house.  And everyone went around looking at all the Christmas light.  Christmas morning she was so spoiled - she had so many gifts that she didn't know where to start.

In January we all made a big change.  We moved out of the 2 bedroom apartment and into a 3 bedroom house.  Maighan was thrilled to have so much more room to play - and a yard to run around in safely.  And she loved the fact that she had her own room and could get away from her brother a little bit each day.

In March, Auntie Trisha married Daniel Funk.  Maig got to be her little Flower Girl.  She was so sweet in her little dress.  She tried so hard to be a perfect "little lady".

This summer has brought another big change.  Daddy's work is in the process of transferring him since the office in Carson City has closed down.  Until they decide for sure where they want him to go, he commutes every week to the job site in Burney, California.  With Daddy gone during the week, Maighan really misses him.  She has a hard time understanding why he has to do this.  Another change that has resulted from Daddy's routine, is the addition of a new member of the family.  Because Mommy was having a very hard time feeling safe, Daddy got everyone a family dog.  Her name is Sabrina - but because Mikael couldn't say it very well, everyone calls her "Brina".  She's a Lab - Aussie Mix, and such a good dog.  Maighan's learning to play with her.  And one of her big chores is to make sure Brina has food every morning.

Mommy has started homeschool with Maig.  Maighan just loves it.  She loves to learn.  Her favorite thing to do is solve puzzles and games during computer time.  Mommy is amazed at how much she can do.
