The Kingston Trio

The Trio's early music, like Tom Dooley and M.T.A. was a terrific
blend of traditional folk Americana and the exuberant spirit
of the folk music that made the 1950's and 60's sound so distinctive.

I grew up listening to the compilation 20 Greatest Hits and
then graduated to College Concert and the Sing with the
Kingston Trio
album, which was entirely instrumental.

I've continued to follow the trio somewhat. The highlight of my interaction
with them was seeing them in concert at my high school. My friend Stefanie
got to present them with flowers, and I was terribly jealous.

While no longer a mainstay of my current listening patterns, the trio remain a heavy
influence on me. I have been known to break into The Ballad of the Shape
of Things
at the drop of a hat.
