SCOTT FRIED
UPDATE: Scott is on the web! You can view the page with his story
and excerpts from his book here.
Scott Fried, whom I discovered when he came to speak to my college
class in '93 about being HIV possitive. Intruiged, I learned that he was
renting a Broadway theater to fulfill a lifelong dream of his,
to sing and dance on a Broadway stage
The show, which I went to see was called "A Change of Seasons"
and was moving and entertaining. On my way out I bought a tape
that was produced of his 1992 show "An Evening of Songs".
I bought it because there was a recording of the title song of
"The Last Unicorn" but as I listened to it throughout college
and afterward I fell in love with all the other songs on it.
Scott is not a songwriter, but his performances of others work
are moving and very personal, as is Scott's banter with the
audience.
I feel very lucky to have seen the second show. I never heard
anything more about Scott's career, or where to reach his
organization of friends for the recording of the show I
attended.
The tape I do have, which I'm in the process of rerecording
because the original is in terrible shape has the following
songs.

Here Comes the Sun
Listen to my Heart
Barter
The Last Unicorn
In a Simple Way
