Tom Petty

I hit my Tom Petty phase at the age of 13, when we translated two
Tom Petty songs for our production of "Bill & Ted's excelent adventure
as performed in Hebrew. One was translated to be about Sandy Koufacs
the Jewish baseball pitcher who refused to pitch on the high holidays,
even though it was the world series. The other was translated about
Theodore Hertzel, the founder of the state of Israel, perdictably
these songs were "I Won't Back Down" and "Running Down a Dream". I just
fell for the driving rhythms and that was the end, I became a Tom Petty fan.

It wasn't until college that I started listening in earnest. I knew
quite a few songs from the radio, but when I was talking with a fellow
Tom Petty fan and he kept bringing up songs that I'd never heard
I realized it was time to update my Tom Petty collection.

My favorites still include "American Girl", "Last Dance with Mary Jane" and
quite a few others. I love popping Tom Petty into the tape deck when
I'm driving. It's got a great energy to it.

Oh my god! She filked Tom Petty!
