Wrap'm Up

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 4 or more
EQUIPMENT: Several roles of toilet paper
OBJECTIVE: To be the first to completely wrap your partner in toilet paper.
DESCRIPTION: Get into pairs. One partner with a role of toilet paper, and the other to be toilet papered. The first to mummify their partner wins.

Musical Chairs

TYPE: Semi-Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: Music, One less chair then the total number of participants
OBJECTIVE: To be the last remaining.
DESCRIPTION: Everyone walks around chairs that are lined-up while music is playing. When the music stops, everyone finds a seat. Those that are left standing are eliminated. The person who is not eliminated wins.

Canada Day Games


Across Canada

TYPE: Active AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: Anything that can be used to make landmarks.
OBJECTIVE: To be the last Canadian remaining
DESCRIPTION: Provinces and Landmarks of Canada are designed in the gym. The leader calls a location and the last one there is eliminated. People who go to the wrong site are also eliminated.

Capture The Flag

TYPE: Active AGE: 8 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Cones and flags
OBJECTIVE: Capture the other teams flag.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into two teams. Each starts on opposite sides of the gym. An area is set-up where the flag goes, but where that team can't. Once across the center, you can be tagged except within the flag zone. Tagged people must stay frozen until touched by a teammate.

Name That Tune (Canadian Content Only)

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 12 and up PARTICIPANTS: 6 or more
EQUIPMENT: Music, Scoreboard
OBJECTIVE: To be the team with the most points.
DESCRIPTION: Two teams are made and each team gets a turn to name a song. The team with the most correct answers wins.

Christmas Games


Don't Be Discouraged

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Wrapped Presents
OBJECTIVE: Be the first group to unwrap a present.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into groups of five. Each group must open a present only using one finger per person. First group to finish wins.

Doodling in a Winter Wonderland

TYPE: Social AGE: 10 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Poster paper, Markers, List of things to draw.
OBJECTIVE: To have your group guess the object the one person from your group is drawing.
DESCRIPTION: Same as Win Lose or Draw. The group is divided into two teams. First team selects a person from the group to be the first drawer. The drawer is shown a topic and must draw pictures so that his team can guess what the topic is. The team only has one and a half minutes to guess. After the time is gone and the team still has not guessed correct, the opposition gets one guess to steel the point. The winning team is the team with the most points at the end of play. In this case, a Christmas theme was used, but any theme will work.

Giddy-Up Santa

TYPE: Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 20 or more
EQUIPMENT: Pylons, Helmets, Blankets
OBJECTIVE: To be the first team to complete the relay.
DESCRIPTION: First person in the team of five or more is Santa. The second is a reindeer. Santa puts on a hat. The reindeer wears a helmet. Sitting on the blanket the reindeer is pulled across the gym by Santa, around a pylon, and back. The reindeer becomes Santa and the third person becomes the reindeer. The first team to finish wins.

Meet Your Marry Match

TYPE: Icebreaker AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Paper slips with names, Tape
OBJECTIVE: Guess the object's name taped to your forehead.
DESCRIPTION: Names are taped to your forehead. You must approach people, introduce yourself and ask a yes or no question to figure out "what you are." The names can be of a certain theme ex: Christmas Names.

Arts And Crafts

TYPE: Quiet AGE: 3 and up PARTICIPANTS: 1 or more
EQUIPMENT: Construction Paper, Glue
OBJECTIVE: Make a Basket (Easter Theme)
DESCRIPTION: This can be any little arts and crafts project. Since it was Easter we made an Easter Basket.

Sexy Bunny

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 4 or more
EQUIPMENT: Any cloths or make-up you can find.
OBJECTIVE: To dress one person from your group as the sexiest bunny.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into groups of five. Using the cloths and make-up provided, make a sexy bunny by dressing a teammate.

Elderly Games


Remember Me

TYPE: Quiet AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 2 or more
EQUIPMENT: Double pictures of several objects
OBJECTIVE: Have the most double pictures found.
DESCRIPTION: Matching pictures are randomly placed face down on the floor. Each team of five has one turn before starting the cycle over. Each turn consists of turning over two cards. If they match, pick them up and go again. If not, turn them back and next team goes. Team with the most matches wins.

Spelling Seniors

TYPE: Quiet AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 2 or more
EQUIPMENT: List of Words
OBJECTIVE: Be the team with the most correctly spelled words.
DESCRIPTION: Same as a spelling Bee.

Work That Body

TYPE: Active AGE: 50 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Music, Aerobic Routine
OBJECTIVE: To get the participants physically active.
DESCRIPTION: Just like running an aerobics class for seniors. Low impact, use actions they can relate to. (Grocery shopping, etc.)

Food Games


Feed The Fool

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 5 or more
EQUIPMENT: One Loaf of Sliced Bread. Knife, Peanut Butter.
OBJECTIVE: Correctly tell the leader how to make a sandwich.
DESCRIPTION: The group, sitting in a circle must instruct the leader, one at a time, how to make a sandwich. The leader takes all instructions literally.

Five Foot Banana Peel

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 5 or more
EQUIPMENT: Garbage bags, Bananas, Towels.
OBJECTIVE: Peel a banana with your group using one foot.
DESCRIPTION: On the command "GO" your team of five tries to peel a banana with their feet. First team to finish wins.

Pretzel Pass

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 10 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: Pretzels: Round, and sticks.
OBJECTIVE: To be the first to complete the relay.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into teams of five. Walk across the gym holding your ankles hanging a round pretzel on a pretzel stick from your mouth. Once you reach your teammate, pass the pretzel without using hands. If it drops, yell "Pretzel God. Give Me Another Pretzel." The leader hands out pretzels.

Licorice Relay

TYPE: Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Shoelace Licorice, Marshmallows
OBJECTIVE: Be the first team to finish.
DESCRIPTION: With a partner, eat a piece of shoe string licorice from both ends while blindfolded. Once done you must skip with your partner to a pylon, grab a marshmallow between your cheeks and run back.

Orange You Glad You Didn't Drop It

TYPE: Active AGE: 10 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Oranges
OBJECTIVE: Be the first team to finish the Relay.
DESCRIPTION: Hold the orange under your chin without your hands. Walk across the gym and back. Pass the orange to the next person without using your hands. If the orange drops you must kneel and wait for the orange god to bless the orange and make it pure again.

Games For The Very Young


Boogie Band

TYPE: Active AGE: 3 to 5 PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: None
OBJECTIVE: Have fun playing a part in an air band.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into four or five groups. Each group is given an instrument to imitate. The group must pretend to play this instrument. When the conductor points at the group, they play their instrument.

Do The Socky Wocky

TYPE: Active AGE: 3 to 5 PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Socks
OBJECTIVE: Have fun and be active while singing.
DESCRIPTION: Standing in a circle with your socks rolled up in the center, sing the song "Do the hoky poky" switching to the "socky wocky" Follow the instructions and grab and wave your socks during the "socky wocky."

Jungle Hike

TYPE: Active AGE: 3 to 7 PARTICIPANTS: 5 or more
EQUIPMENT: Chairs, Ropes, Pylons, etc...
OBJECTIVE: Have fun acting like different animals
DESCRIPTION: Several areas are marked off using chairs, pylons, etc.. Once in the area you act like the animal assigned to the area.

Playdoe Paradise

TYPE: Quiet AGE: 3 and up PARTICIPANTS: 1 or more
EQUIPMENT: Several colors of playdoe.
OBJECTIVE: Make an animal and give it a name.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into groups of five. Three different colors of playdoe are given to the group. Each group must make a new and creative animal and give the animal a name.

Rollie Pollie

TYPE: Semi-Active AGE: 2 to 4 PARTICIPANTS: 2 or more
EQUIPMENT: Balls
OBJECTIVE: Roll a ball to a partner.
DESCRIPTION: Young children, with their parents supporting and helping them, roll a ball back and forth to each other.

Halloween Games


Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hide

TYPE: Semi-Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: Several Mats
OBJECTIVE: Be the last alive.
DESCRIPTION: Lights are turned off. One person is selected to be Dr. Jeckle who kills by squeezing someone's hand and one person as Mr. Hide who brings people back to life with a touch. Everyone wonders around the playing area. When you bump someone, you shake their hand.

Grave Yard

TYPE: Semi-Active AGE: 5 and up PARTICIPANTS: 20 or more
EQUIPMENT: None
OBJECTIVE: To turn everyone into a care-taker
DESCRIPTION: Each player randomly finds a spot and lays down. One person is selected as the caretaker. The caretaker tries to make each person flinch or laugh. Once the person does this they become a caretaker as well. You try to be the last laying down.

Pumpkin Ball

TYPE: Active AGE: 8 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Beach Ball, Several Tennis Balls
OBJECTIVE: To push the beach ball past the opponents line.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into two teams. Define a court with each team on their own side facing each other. The beach ball is placed in the center. Nobody can step inside the court except to pick-up balls. Try to hit the beach ball with the tennis balls so that the beach ball roles past the opposite team's line.

New Years Games


Pop Goes New Years

TYPE: Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 20 or more
EQUIPMENT: Hats, Skipping ropes, Hoops, Balloons
OBJECTIVE: To be the first team to complete the relay.
DESCRIPTION: Groups of five. Put on the hat, run to the skipping rope and jump five times. Run to the hoop and hula five times. Inflate and tie a balloon. Run with the balloon to the last spot. Pop the balloon and yell "Happy New Year!"

New Years Story

TYPE: Quiet AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: None
OBJECTIVE: Create a story a few words at a time.
DESCRIPTION: Sitting in a circle, a person starts the story by saying, "On New Years Eve" The person to their right must repeat the story thus far and add on to it. A complete story is made when everyone has had a turn.

Steal The Turkey

TYPE: Active AGE: 6 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 to 20
EQUIPMENT: Turkey or a reasonable substitution.
OBJECTIVE: Get the turkey back to your side of the gym.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into two teams. Each team starts on opposite sides of the gym. The turkey is placed in the center. Each team member is given a number. When their number is called they try to bring the turkey to their side. Once they touch the turkey, they can be tagged by the other person.

Catch the Turkey

TYPE: Icebreaker AGE: 6 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 to 20
EQUIPMENT: Blindfold
OBJECTIVE: To cross the circle without being caught.
DESCRIPTION: Standing in a circle, one person is blindfolded in the center. The person in the center calls out a number. The people who's number was called must traverse the circle gobbling. If they are caught, they are switched with the blindfolded person.

Gobble Gobble Chew

TYPE: Icebreaker AGE: 6 and up PARTICIPANTS: 20 to 25
EQUIPMENT: None
OBJECTIVE: Have Fun
DESCRIPTION: Sitting in a circle, someone starts by saying "Gobble" in one direction. The saying continues until someone says "Chew" which changes the direction.

Winter Carnival Games


Snowball Toss

TYPE: Semi-Active AGE: 10 and up PARTICIPANTS: 20 or more
EQUIPMENT: Targets that clings well to snow.
OBJECTIVE: Completely cover the target with snow.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into teams of five. From a designated area, each team must throw snowballs to cover the target. At the end of the set time, the team with the most covered wins.

Barrel Tag

TYPE: Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: None
OBJECTIVE: Avoid being "IT"
DESCRIPTION: Link arms with a partner. One person from the class is "IT." The other is being chased. The person being chased can link arms with someone and be safe. The person on the opposite side is now the person being chased. Once tagged, the roles are reversed.

Outdoor Obstacle Course

TYPE: Active AGE: 7 and up PARTICIPANTS: 15 or more
EQUIPMENT: Pylons, Chairs, etc.
OBJECTIVE: Be the first team to complete the course.
DESCRIPTION: Using several objects, create an outdoor obstacle course. Each person on teams of five goes through individually. First team through wins.

Snow Sculpture

TYPE: Cooperative AGE: 10 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: Jello Mix
OBJECTIVE: Make a sculpture out of snow.
DESCRIPTION: Divide into teams of five. Decide on an object and make it. Use the jello mix for color. Usually sculptures are then judged.

Freeze Tag

TYPE: Active AGE: 4 and up PARTICIPANTS: 10 or more
EQUIPMENT: None
OBJECTIVE: Avoid being tagged
DESCRIPTION: One person is "IT." When a person is tagged (touched) they must stand with their arms out and legs apart. This is the frozen position. To be thawed out, another person must go through their legs. Once everyone is frozen, a knew "IT" can be selected
