Poems by Jess:

"What do you know?"
Have you seen the dawn today?
Seen pristine flowers in bloom in May?
Seen the whites of the eyes of a soldier at war?
Watched someone killed and wonder what for?

Have you heard a loud trumpet joyously ring?
Can you hear a child laugh at the dawn of spring?
Have you hear hatred spouting around every bend?
Have you heard a mother scream and look for a friend?

Have you tasted sweet candy more than twice?
Have you tasted sweet victory at the roll of the dice?
Have you tasted poison at a father's hand,
Too scared to speak and too weak to stand?

Have you smelled some roses from a love gone?
Have you listened intensly to a sweet song?
Have you seen the woman, sold on the street,
Trying to get food for her children to eat?

Some you have seen, and others not,
But all are the same, with different lots.
~Midnight Rendevous~
Though the dawn's receding brow,
Did saunter till I waken now,
All the more would my heart long
For your touch, or sweet soft song.
Staring down new empty years
Each one full of empty tears.
Longing for unreachable goals,
Cowering as the lowest of souls.
Still, night I fly to get away,
Far from my troubles here today,
Through a rolling hill so clear,
Wondering what beauty brought me here.
Until the dawn my heart is light
Relishing in this midnight flight.
Singing birds a grand chorus make
What I have, no man can take.
Landing on a moolit beach
All my soul at arm's reach.
Thinking nothing of today,
Here I lie and here I'll stay.
Standing here, across the night
Seeing no visible signs of light.
Through the maze of whistling reeds
My starving soul now does feed.
Taking in the crisp night air
All along without a care.
There I am, waiting for you,
All these feelings, all brand new.
Along the beach you silently creep,
When I see you, my heart does leap.
In your gentle, soothing embrace,
You wipe the hair away from my face.
As our lips grow nearer still,
I feel no warmth, only chill,
As the light of day draws near,
You go away as I cry a tear.
~A Soft Melody~
When the wind whistles, it speaks a name
Each time a different tone, but always the same.
When the clouds pass, I stop and stare
Seeing a face that isn't there.
I hear music far away, a soft melody,
I push back the bushes around me to see.
A love song plays on the simple morning
On the top of my cheek I feel a teardrop forming,
For now I can see eyes so grand
He could enwrap me without laying a hand.
Deep I can see a face all too clear,
As the soft melody plays in my ear,
And whispers to me of something I long
Without being more than a simple love song.
~Untitled~
Till night meets day and dawn disperses,
Of solemn songs and silent verses.
Tell me of your day, my dear,
And night shall give us solice here.
With work and trials, we'll make it through,
Though we are different, I still love you.
The trials of time give a burden, a cost.
You are my life, if you I lost,
The sky above would crumble down,
And this night and day would all fall down,
For you are here to keep me whole.
From the first moment, my heart you stole,
And if you keep it, contented I'll be
If you always stay with me.
And hold me close, through the dark
In our fire, light the spark.
For only you does my heart long,
So stay for now, stay all along.
My night and day are always true,
My night and day belong to you.
~Confessions of a Cyber Surfer~
Ah, sweet tyranny of life, that we may bear arms to you,
And forget our worries, yet back we flew.

There is no majority, they may say,
But we're all divided into whites, blacks, and gays.

It's not free will, we live under fools,
At least it's not military rule.

Congress, the Senate, they all give in
It's the secret organizations that get under my skin.

It's getting to a point that all is wrapped in their fleece,
I can't even surf the net in peace.
~The Stranger Stranger~
Wandering, never to slow,
He suddenly stops to talk.
Tired, he does kick off his shoes,
But all the more he must walk.
He orders his drink,
The girl thinks him suspicious.
"Please go away,"
She silently wishes.
The drunkard asleep
In the corner of the bar.
One man steps out,
Hoping to get away far.
The stranger merely glances
And shrugs his head.
"Maybe he wouldn't,
"Be caught in here dead."
From right behind him
A shot rings out.
A bullet is coming,
Someone lets out a shout.
But the stranger isn't hit,
As he turns around
But the stranger isn't hit,
As he turns around.
He fires at the man,
And the shooter goes down.
"Anyone else?"
He says with a grin,
As he walks out,
Wandering again.
