YMCA Storer Camp

YMCA Storer Camp We had a very adventuresome trip to camp!! This trip was from May 9-11, 2003. We arrived to camp and checked in Friday night. This was an all Girl Scout weekend, so there were many girls. We all met up for a campfire, where we listened to stories told by an Indian tribe member. Afterwards we headed back to our lodge and unpacked, chatted and relaxed, then went to bed. We would have a busy day tomorrow.

Rise and shine at 7:30am. Breakfast was served at 8:30. Afterwards we went on our horseback ride, which was really nice first thing in the morning. Next was the tower. Girls were hooked up to safety harnesses and climbed a 50 foot rock tower. Alaina made it to the top! Everyone tried, and we all had fun! Next we were off to lunch, and then headed out for Incredible Journey. This was an exercise in team work and skill building. Girls had to work together on various activities to accomplish a certain goal. The only way to achieve the goal, was to compromise and learn. Next was the archery range, then to the pellet range. We had fun using bow and arrows as well as pellet guns to shoot out targets. Next was dinner.

After dinner we had some free time, then headed over to a private camp fire with Mrs.Kelly and Mrs.Esbri’s troops. We ate s’mores and toasted marshmallows by the fire and just got to relax and talk to friends. This night would be a group activity with all the scouts. We all met in the dining hall for a big square dance. They had face painting, and popcorn and lemonade as well as various dances and fun. Afterwards we headed back to our lodge where some played flashlight tag and others just rested. Bedtime was next, and we were really tired.

Sunday was the same, up at 7:30 and breakfast at 8:30am. We then packed up our stuff and loaded our vehicles. We left camp by 10:30am and stopped for lunch at McDonalds, before pulling into Mark Twain for a Happy Mother’s Day!
