Our Year 2000/2001

This year Brownie~Junior Troop 1459 did many different things, and through it all, we had an excellent time!

9/19/00 First Meeting
We talked about this coming year, and brainstormed different plans for it. We all received journal in which we will write about ourselves. Started on next meetings badges.

10/10/00 My Self Esteem~Write Away
We worked on and completed these badges.

10/24/00 Horse Lover
We started work on this badge to prepare for our upcoming field trip to the horse riding stables.

10/28/00 Pontiac Lake Trails Riding Stable
We broke into groups for our hour long trail rides, we worked to complete our badge requirements, and had a tack and grooming lesson.

11/6/00 Horse Lover
We worked on and completed this badge.

11/21/00 Investiture/Rededication Ceremony
The Brownies performed a play based on the "Brownie Woods Story", while the Juniors recited a badges poem. Everyone received their badges and had refreshments.

12/5/00 Junior Citizen~Citizens Near and Far
We worked on and completed this try-it.

12/19/00 Christmas Service Project
The girls had been collecting gifts and food for our two adopted families, for the Hazel Park Holiday Basket program. At the meeting we wrapped presents and prepared the food baskets, then exchanged our own gifts while we snacked on goodies.

1/16/01 Cookie Connection~Cookies Count
To coincide with cookie sales, we worked on and completed this badge.

1/30/01 Meeting
We chose Italy as our country for Thinking Day and made decorations for our upcoming Sock Hop.

2/2/01 Girl Scout Sock Hop
We got together with our schools other troop and had a great time dancing to the oldies in the gym. There were ice cream floats for everyone, as well as lessons in older dance moves from four girls in a 50's dance class.

2/13/01 Meeting ~ Italy
The girls learned the lay of the land, as well as some of the Italian traditions and language. We learned about the scouts in Italy, and how they dress, as well as how their troops differ from ours.

2/27/01 Thinking Day ~ Italy
We had an excellent Italian feast! Girls sampled tons of new and exciting foods, from appetizers and main courses, down to desserts.

3/2/01 Brownie~Junior Sleepover
Our big project for the night was stuffed animals we stuffed and sewed up on our own. Girls also made their own pizzas, and played games and dance, got their hair and nails done, and watched movies.

Juniors worked on this badge, while Brownies worked on Bridging to Juniors.

4/10/01 Meeting ~ Camp
We went over camp informations and questions with the girls. Talked about the stuff we would be doing and the fun we would have. Parent camp info meeting.

4/24/01 Sky Search
We started up on this badge to prepare us for camp. Girl who needed sit-upons made them, and girls were asked "What do you expect to do and learn at camp?".

4/27/01-4/29/01 Camp Echo Grove
Working together, we had a great time at camp. We completed two badges, Sky Search and Science Sleuth, and had tons of fun in the meanwhile!

5/8/01 Meeting
Brownies worked on bridging preparations and Junios worked on their flag ceremony for the bridging event, while the other worked on their poem.

5/19/01 Mother Daughter Tea Party
With our sister scout troop, we hosted a Mother Daughter Tea Party so we could all get together and mingle. A nice lunch was served as well as tea and dessert.

5/22/01 Fly Up/Court of Awards Ceremony
Our Brownies flew up to juniors, and we handed out the patches and recognitions the girls have earned. It was followed by a spaghetti dinner one of our dads prepared for our whole troop and their families!

5/28/01 Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade
We again celebrated all veterans of the United States by walking in our cities annual Memorial Day parade.

6/5/01 VFW Park - End of the Year Picnic
We drove up to the park for our end of the year picnic. Girls had a great time ending the scouting year by playing with their friends. We had ice cream sundaes and said our goodbyes for the summer.
