There are two places in this world you are supposed to feel safe. One is at home and the other is at school. Unfortunately for many people, home isn't always safe. We have known this for years and have laws in effect to help those in that situation.

But what happens when the schools are no longer safe? How are we, as students supposed to study and enjoy our high school years, when we are constantly wondering if "we'll be next". Many places have said it won't happen to them, but if you look at the list of how many places it has happened to, no one is safe. I sincerely hope that time will heal for all the victims of school violence and something is done to make sure that all kids are safe for future generations to come. If someone doesn't do something soon, we will loose an entire generation to senseless violence.

Parents need to talk with their kids and be involved in their lives. Just because we are teens doesn't mean we don't want you to be a part of our world. After all, we aren't finished growing up yet. School administrators need to take violence seriously and any threats of violence. Its so easy to to cover up your eyes until its time to cover someones grave. Not all school violence is on the level of the national headlines we seen and heard but Iam sure someone, somewhere is being subjected to school violence somewhere...whether it be being beaten up by a school bully or jumped by a gang of kids. The violence has to stop and it's up to all of us to stand up together and say we arent going to take this anymore. I dont want to bury my best friend......do you?

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who have lost someone due to violence. Especially Columbine High School and all the other high schools across America who have been hit with school shooting tragedities.
