Prize Method

Please refer to the Prize Methods Page for more ideas on a prize method. Use one method for a few weeks, then change to another method.
Object Lesson - Tight Rope Walking

Lay a rope on the ground. Get a volunteer to walk accross it. That was easy. Now, start to climb a step ladder as if you were going to put the rope at that height. While you are up there, ask if the volunteer would walk across it when it is in the air. They probably won't want to and if they did, they wouldn't be able to. Why were they willing to walk accross the rope when it was on the floor? (It was easy.) Why not the second time? (It was too hard.) Believing in Jesus is easy until he asks us to do something hard. (standing up for him in a group of unsaved friends.) But if we believe in Jesus, we will do what he asks us to. Just like, walking accross the rope would be hard, but if the rope was properly secured, and you had some balancing tools to help you, it would be possible to walk accross the rope. It might be hard, but with practice, you could do it, and then it wouldn't seem so hard any more. God will help us with anything that seems too hard for us, if He really wants us to do it!
Game #1 - Bump Relay

You will need 10 chairs for each team. Choose 10 girls and 10 guys. If you have a group of about 30 kids, divide the group in half, and allow everyone to play. Put the 10 chairs side by side in a line. Each player sits on a chair. On "Go", the first player jumps up, runs behind the row of chairs, and sits on the last seat. Everyone must bump over one seat in order for the last one to become vacant. Then the next person does the same thing, until everyone is in their original seat that they started in. Play upbeat, energetic music while the game is being played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when someone wins. Encourage kids to cheer loudly for their team. This is a good time to hand out incentives!
Story - Moses In a Basket - Kids Act Out the Story, dressed in Costumes.

Once there was a baby named Moses. He was born in an Israelite family who loved and trusted God. But the king of the land was wicked. He made a law that all the baby boys in that land were to be killed. Moses' family didn't want to hurt their baby so they hid him. It was very hard to hide the baby, because babies are not very quiet.
After 3 months of hiding the baby, Moses mother prayed and asked God to show her another way to keep her baby safe. She trusted God and He gave her an idea.
She made a basket from long grass. She covered it with mud and tar so it wouldn't leak. She put baby Moses in it, and put the basket in the river. Miriam, the big sister stayed nearby to keep an eye on the basket.
Later that day the king's daughter came to the river to take a bath. She saw the little basket with the baby in it. As soon as she saw him, she loved him!
Miriam, the big sister was carefully watching. She ran over and asked the princess if she needed anyone to look after the little baby. The princess asked her if she could find someone. Miriam went and got her mother to look after him.
The mother thanked God for helping her. Her baby would be safe, and she could even be the one to look after him for the princess while he grew up!
Game #2 - Kool Aid Eating Contest

You will need 4 packs of unsweetened Kool-aid. Flavours like lemon or lime are best! Choose 2 girls and 2 boys. On "Go", the players must eat all the Kool-aid in their package. They can only use one finger to dip in the package and get the Kool-aid out. They must try not to spill any of it! (The expression on their faces is usually comical. The Kool-aid is VERY sour!) The first person to eat all of their kool-aid wins! Play upbeat, energetic music while the game is being played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when someone wins. Encourage kids to cheer loudly for their team. This is a good time to hand out incentives!
Big Head Story - "Roy"

Roy lived with his mom and his 2 brothers in Toronto. He had a dad, but his dad lived in New York. Roy didn't get to see his dad very much, but next week was hi birthday, and he was going to visit his dad in New York.
Roy was excited about visiting his dad, because he was going to tell him about his new friend, Jesus, that he head heard about at the kids club. Roy was hoping his dad would like to be Jesus' friend too!
Two days before he was supposed to leave, Roy's dad called to say his car broke down, and he wasn't going to be able to pick Roy up to go to New York. Roy was soooo upset! He was really looking forward to his visit with his dad. Then Roy remembered what he had learned one day at Kids Club. "Have faith in the Lord and he will take care of you." Roy decided that he wasn't going to get all mad at his dad and he would try to understand. Roy prayed to God, and told Him he was disappointed, and asked God to help him feel better.
The next day, Roy's dad called him on the phone. He told him that he got a bonus at work, and he had enough money to fix his car, and he could come and get Roy after all!
Roy was so excited! He was really going to visit his dad in New York! Roy remembered that he had talked to God, and tried to act how God wanted him to. God really did take care of him!
Memory Verse

Have faith in the Lord and He will take care of you. 2 Chronicles 20:20.

Write the Memory Verse on the Chalkboard or a piece of poster board. Have the kids keep a beat by tapping their knees. Have them repeat a few words at a time, after the leader. Change the ways of keeping the beat, as you say it together several times. e.g. clapping hands, snapping fingers, stomping feet, etc.
Salvation Message & Close In Prayer

It is very important to tell the kids each week, about Jesus dying on the cross. You never know when there will be new kids there, or when someone will be visiting for that one and only time. Make the most of every opportunity! Don't forget to Close in Prayer!
