Game #1 - Bubble Gum Contest

You will need 2 packs hubba bubba gum, or other type of bubble gum. Each pack usually contains 6 pieces. Choose 3 girls and 3 boys. Give each player 2 pieces of gum. On "Go", they must unwrap the gum, chew it, and make a large bubble. The team who has the player with the largest bubble wins. Give them 60 seconds to blow their best bubble. (Two pieces of gum is a lot for a kids mouth, so it will be a challenge to get it chewed and make a bubble with it. Play upbeat, energetic music as the game is played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when 60 seconds is up. Encourage the audience to cheer loudly for their team. This is a good time to give out incentives.
Practical Life Lesson - Winter Safety

During this segment, we spent some time reviewing some practical reminders about winter fun, as the kids need to be reminded once and a while about safety. In the part of the country we live in, we get snow in the winter, and it is cold out! If you don't get snow, or it is not cold where you live, Ignore this section! Otherwise, you can add any ideas you think are important. Let the kids suggest some too!

Bible Story - Life of Joseph

Let the kids be the actors in the story. You will need actors for: Joseph, brothers, parents, Potiphar, Potiphar's wife, and the king. You can narrate the story, as the kids act it out!

Joseph was only 17 years old when this story starts. Joseph lived at home with his parents and his brothers. He was a nice looking young man. His parents gave him a nice coat to wear. It was really cool looking. His job was to look after the sheep on his family's farm. He made sure the sheep were fed, and healthy, and got lots of fresh water to drink.
Joseph's brother's were kind of mean. They didn't really like Joseph. They thought that their parents spoiled Joseph, and that he was their favourite son. They were just jealous. They kidnapped Joseph, and stole his coat. They sold him at the market to be a slave.
Joseph went to work for a man named Potiphar. While he was working there, Potiphar's wife said that Joseph did something bad. But the truth was, he really didn't do anything bad. It was a lie! Potiphar didn't believe Joseph, so he threw him in jail! Poor Joseph was having an awful lot of bad things happen to him lately!
While Joseph was in Jail, he helped out the king. The king was so impressed with Joseph that he put him in charge of all the land! Wow, things were starting to get better after all!
Later, Joseph found his brothers and his dad. He could have been mad at his brothers for kidnapping him, and selling him to be a slave, but instead, he decided to forgive them! Even after all they did to him, and Joseph didn't do anything! He forgave them!
Joseph's father and brothers came to live with him in the palace, and everything turned out O.K.!
Explanation of Story

Joseph started off as life being O.K. He liked his job, and he was pretty happy doing what he was doing. Then, his brothers were terribly mean to him, and he was even put in jail for something he didn't do. Joseph could have been mad at God, saying, "this is all your fault! Why should I love you anymore! You did this to me!" But he didn't. Joseph kept on loving God, even though his life was unfair. He could have chosen to get even with his brothers when he found them again later, but instead, he chose to forgive them. Wow! We can learn a lot from Joseph. God blessed him because of his faithfulness to keep loving God, and doing what was right!
Game #2 - The Straw & Paper Game

You will need 1 piece of paper (aprox. 4 inch. square) for each team, and a straw for each player. Select 5 girls and 5 boys. The first player must use the straw to pick up the paper, by sucking in through the straw. Then, they must carry the paper to the finish line and back, but they must have the paper stuck to the end of the straw while they run. If the paper falls off, they must get it back on the straw, by sucking in through the straw, and continue on. Each player takes their turn until all players have had a chance. The first team to be sitting in a straight line wins! Play upbeat, energetic music as the game is played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when someone wins. Encourage the audience to cheer loudly for their team. This is a good time to give out incentives.
Object Lesson & Salvation Message - Bubble Gum

Unwrap a piece of bubble gum. Stick it in your mouth and begin to chew while you talk. This will help the kids be interested in what you have to say!
This bubble gum sure is sticky. It reminds me about sticking to God. Once you stick it to something, it sure is hard to get off. If you stick it under a chair, and come back one year later, it will be hard to get the gum off, or if you get it stuck in the carpet, it is hard to get out because it is so sticky! God wants us to be sticky too! He wants us to stick to him, or be a close friend of his. Close friends talk to each other everyday! He wants us to tell him about the good stuff and the bad stuff that happens to us. He wants to help us when things seem bad. Stick to God! Stay close to him, and he will stick close to you! If you would like to be God's friend, and talk with him everyday, all you have to do is ask him! He wants to be your friend! (Lead the kids in a repeat after me prayer.)
Memory Verse

A faithful man will be richly blessed. Proverbs 28:20.

You will need 9 pink balloons. Blow up the first balloon, but do not tie it. Write the first word on it. Then let the air out. Do this with the rest of the balloons, one for each word in the verse. During the program, select 9 volunteers. Have the kids stand in a line at the front. Give them each a balloon with a word written on it. Have them blow up the balloon, but don't tie it. Say the verse several times with the group. One by one, let the kids let the air out of their balloons, sending them flying. The balloons are supposed to look like the kids blew a huge bubble with gum. Each time a balloon is deflated, say the verse together.
