Prize Method - Punch A Prize

I made a punch board similar to the one on "The Price is Right" where the contestant punches a circle, and pulls out a dollar amount. The difference is, the kids pull out a prize. I made it using formica, (although cardboard would work), 24 applejuice cans, duct tape, poster board and tissue paper. If kids sit quietly, they may get a chance to punch a prize! Prizes are handed out throughout the program for kids who are following rules #2 & #3.
Game #1 - Dress Up Relay

You will need some dress-up clothes. I used 2 each of a wig, a hat, a housecoat and a pair of large oversized shoes.Select 5 girls and 5 boys. The players need to put on all the clothes, run to the finish line and back. Then they take off their outfit, and the next person in line repeats the process. The first team to each have a turn, and be sitting in a straight line, wins! Play upbeat, energetic music while game is played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when a team wins. Encourage kids to cheer loudly for their team! This is a good time to hand out incentives too!
Bible Story - The Lost Sheep

The kids act out the story, while the leader narrates it. You will need a sheep actor and a shepherd actor. It is helpful to have another leader assist in getting the kids in their costumes. This keeps the main leader free to tell the story, and keep the kids attention. Costumes are made from old clothes found around the house. It doesn't matter how good the costume is, but the kids love the idea of being an actor, and looking rediculous.

Once there was a shepherd who had 100 sheep. Every day he took good care of his sheep, making sure they had clean water to drink and green grass to eat. He also had to make sure that no wild animals took any sheep. He would count them to make sure they were all there. One day, when he was counting his sheep....1...3...10..25...97...98...99.......! He noticed one was missing! The shepherd didn't know what to do! He started looking all over the place! He looked high and he looked low. He looked behind trees, and under rocks. He couldn't find the sheep anywhere! He kept looking and looking! He even left all the other sheep alone while he went looking! Finally, he heard a sound! It sounded like a "baaa". Then he heard it again! He ran towards the little sound. There, stuck in a bush was the little lost sheep. The shepherd had found his lost sheep! He was so excited! The sheep that was lost, now was found!
Dudley the Dinosour - Puppet

Dudley is a Dinosour Puppet with a bit of an attitude. He seems to think he is better than everyone else. The kids will attempt to "blow Dudley off the stage" by yelling a statement. Today's saying is: "Luke 19:10" I usually let the kids have 3 tries at getting him off the stage. Each time they yell, Dudley sways back and forth as if it were very windy. To add excitement, I let the excitement go on for 2 or 3 days (programs) And finally, the kids are loud enough, and Dudley is blown off the stage. (disappears behind the puppet stage) To add some fun, the kids try things like yelling as quiet as they can, or doing a Silent Screem, to try and confuse Dudley. This helps emphasize today's theme. Note: If I am doing a week long program, where I see the kids everyday, I will keep Dudley going until the last day. On the final day, the kids will blow him off the stage. If I am using Dudley once a week, I would keep Dudley in no more than 3 weeks. If it is any longer, the kids lose interest, and the novelty wears off. On the 3rd week, Dudley gets blown off the stage.
Big Head Story - Sally Gets Lost

1 Girl Big Head & 1 Dad Big Head

One day Sally was walking home from school. She was thinking about what she did that day, when all of a sudden she saw something move in the bushes beside her. She stopped and watched closely. There it was again! There was something moving in the bushes! She bent down to take a closer look. There under some leaves was a little snake!

Wow! she thought. It sure was neat! It was green with black stripes. She tried to pick up the snake, but it slithered away. She took a few steps and tried to pick it up again, but the snake was just a little bit too fast. Sally followed the snake, a few steps at a time. The snake was so fast, she had to hurry to catch up with it!

After a while, Sally gave up trying to catch the snake. Every time she would try to catch it, it would always get away. Sally stood up and looked around. Uuh, Oh! While she was trying to catch the snake, she had forgotten to watch where she was going! Sally was lost!

Sally walked a little bit this way, then she walked a little bit that way. She could not find anywhere that looked familiar. It was starting to get dark too! Sally was scared. She sat down on a rock and started to cry.

Then she heard a noise! "Sally, Sally!!!" Someone was calling here name! She heard it again! "Sally! Where are you?"

"I'm over here!" She called out! It was only a matter of minutes until her dad came from around the trees and found here!

We were worried about you! When you didn't come home from school and you were late for supper, we thought something was wrong!

"I was only trying to catch a little snake, and then I got lost. I didn't think anyone was going to find me." Sally said.

Sally's father walked with her all the way home. Sally was lost, but her dad loved her so much that he went looking for her, and he didn't stop until he found her.
Game #2 - Balloon in the Hoop

You will need 2 hoola hoops, and 2 balloons.

Select 5 girls and 5 boys. The first player must take the balloon, put it between their knees, and run towards the hoola hoop that is being help by another leader at the finish line. They must get the balloon in the hoop, without using their hands. If they drop the balloon on the way to the hoop, they must stop, pick it up, and go back to the spot where they dropped it from. Once they get it in the hoop, they pick up the balloon in their hands, and run back to their line, giving the balloon to the next player who will follow the same proceedure. The first team to have everyone complete the process, and are sitting in a straight line wins! Play upbeat, energetic music while game is played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when a team wins. Encourage kids to cheer loudly for their team! This is a good time to hand out incentives too!
Memory Verse - Rodney the Rapper

Rodney is a puppet the raps! Have Rodney rap a beat, and rap the memory verse a few times.
After Rodney raps for a bit, the kids can try and rap too. Have them rap the verse in sections, to make it easier for them.

Memory Verse: "The Son of Man Came...To Seek and Save...What was Lost....Luke 19:10."

If you have any talented kids who can rap, give them an opportunity to rap the memory verse by themself!
Salvation Message

Be sure to take a few minutes to explain what today's stories mean. Let the kids know that Jesus came to earth, so that he could save what was lost, Us! Give the kids and opportunity to respond to the invitation with a "repeat after me" prayer.
