The Great Banguet

Rules

  1. Keep Your Hands and Feet to Yourself
  2. Be Loud When It's Time To Be Loud
  3. Be Quiet When It's Time To Be Quiet
  4. Save Your Prizes Until the End
  5. Have Fun!

Prize Method

I make a Tree shape using poster board, or coragated paper and put it overtop of a sheet of styrophome. Then I poke tons of holes everywhere. Next I fill those holes with a sucker. I colour the tips of about 5 suckers with a black marker. I insert them into the tree holes in various locations. The shape of the thing doesn't have to be a tree. I have changed it according to the season, e.g. a Snowman, a Sunshine, etc. This is how it works. During the program, if kids are sitting quietly, or being loud when it's time to be loud, I choose a few kids, now and then, to come pick a sucker. (Always have a leader supervising the kids who are picking suckers) If the sucker has a black tip, they get to choose a larger candy or prize. If it does not, they get to keep the sucker. They are reminded about rule #4, that says, Save your prizes until the end. This includes all candy prizes.
Game #1 - Whip Cream on a Plate

You will need 2 packs of dream whip and enough milk to make the whip cream. Whip cream in a can usually turns to liquid by the time I'm ready for the game. Put a generous large spoonful of whip cream on a styrophome plate. Choose 2 girls and 2 boys. On "Go" the players eat the whip cream until it is all gone from their plate. They must keep their hands behind their back. (Put the plates of whip cream on a table.) The first person to finish all the whip cream wins! Play upbeat, energetic music as the game is played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when someone wins. Encourage the audience to cheer loudly for their team. This is a good time to give out incentives.
Puppet Skit - The Great Banquet

Narrator: Once there was a king who wanted to have a party. (Have a king puppet sit up on the stage.) He was going to have lots of food, music and entertainment at his party, so he wanted lots of people to be there. He decided to send his servant to all the upperclass people, and invite them to the party.

Servantr: Here ye, Here ye, Ya'll are invited to a great big whoppin' good time at the king's place. There will be lots of food and fun! It's Free and it's on Friday at 6:00 pm.

Narrator: Well the king had all of his servants get ready for the big party. (Throw napkins, balloons, etc. in the air from behind the puppet stage. Make some puppets appear and disappear as if they were rushing around getting things ready.) They were rushing around setting up tables, putting up decorations, and all kinds of other stuff.

Narrator: Finally the big day came. The King was very excited!

King: I'm so excited! Today's the day of the party!

Narrator: But, when 6:00 came, no one showed up for the party.

King: Well, maybe everyone is just running late.

Narrator: But no one showed up for the king's party. The king was so disappointed. Then the king's servant had an idea.

Servant: Well, why don't you have another party, and this time, invite all the rest of the people in the kingdom.

Narrator: So that's just what the king did. He sent his servant out into the kingdom to invite all the rest of the people who weren't upper class.

Servant: Here ye, here ye! There's going to be a great big whoppin' good time at the king's place. There will be lots of food and fun! It's Free and it's on Friday at 6:00 pm.

Narrator: The king had all of his servants get ready for the second big party. (Throw napkins, balloons, etc. in the air from behind the puppet stage. Make some puppets appear and disappear as if they were rushing around getting things ready.) They were rushing around setting up tables, putting up decorations, and all kinds of other stuff.

King: I'm so excited, we're having a party and it's going to be so much fun. I sure hope people come this time.

Narrator: Friday night arrived at last! First one family, then another, then another. Soon the whole ballroom was full of people! The had a great big party and lots and lots of fun!
Game #2 - Stepping Stones

You will need 2 pieces of paper for each team. Cut a regular size piece of paper in half, and that should do it. Select 5 girls and 5 boys. The first player must get to the finish line and back, but they can only step on the pieces of paper! If they step off them they have to go back. Each step, they have to bend over, and move their paper in order to take another step. Each player takes their turn until all players have had a chance. The first team to be sitting in a straight line wins! Play upbeat, energetic music as the game is played. The music starts on "Go" and stops when someone wins. Encourage the audience to cheer loudly for their team. This is a good time to give out incentives.
Elroy & The Big Red Guy ("Elmo")

Play "carnival" type music. I used a kids split track tape, and took out the words. The two characters enter, skipping, and jumping, and very excited! They are wearing party hats and have noise makers and balloons in their hands. The leader asks them what's going on. They make several motions to indicated they are going to a party. (Don't forget, Characters NEVER talk!!) The characters are excited because they are on their way to a great party and they want everyone to come too! The characters leave, just as excited as they came!
Salvation Message

The characters are on their way to a big party. That's just like Christians. They are on their way to a great party too! It is heaven! Everyone is invited, but you need to ask Jesus to be you best friend first, if you want to go! Lead the kids in a repeat after me prayer.
Memory Verse

Everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. John 3:15.

Today's method of presenting the M.V. is Wheel of Truth. Please refer to the Games Page to get more details. You can print off this page and put it with this lesson. I need to save the remaining space on this web page for more neat ideas!
