Highway to
Nasca |
Heather is standing in the middle of the Panamericana
Sur highway; it is like Highway 1 on the West coast.
Nasca is about five hours south of Lima by car. The
whole area is a giant desert that serves as the medium for the
famous Nasca Lines.

Nasca
Desert |
Finally there! After a long ride, a blockade set
up by cotton farmers protesting the unfair prices that they
are forced to sell their cotton, the riot police clearing the
road, mules pulling on overloaded wagons packed with tobacco
leaves, we had arrived!

Humming
Bird |
This is one of the designs found in the Nasca
desert. It is as big as a football field, and one can
only see it in its entirety from the air. Hence the
controversy about the lines' existence.

Spider |
Another of the nasca lines designs.

AeroIca Tour
Plane |
This is the Cessna that took us up on the most
turbulent flight I have ever experienced. When we
landed, we were all drenched in sweat, and Heather and Gerd
almost lost their meals in mid-flight. Otherwise, it was
a lot of fun if you enjoy suicidal
rollercoasters.
