Trip to Savannah, GEORGIA. We took a 7 day trip in June 1998 to visit the Juliette Low National Birthplace Center. Our whole troop went with 2 other troops. It was a wonderful trip. Things we did include:
We went to Juliettes House Tour and participated in a Special Interest Session (Rainy Day in 1870) and had a special Pinning Ceremony in her Garden, we went on a Dolphin Tour and Riverboat Ride. We went to Tybee Island and toured the Lighthouse and went into the Museum, we even went on a Ghost Carriage Tour. We also went to Fort Jackson, where the girls were treated like new recruits. (They loved it!) On the Way back home, we slept on the USS Yorktown Ship at Patriots Point and toured the Clamagore Submarine, Coast Guard Cutter Ingham, and the Destroyer Laffey, and we also went into the Congressional Metal of Honor Museum.
We slept in officers quarters and roamed freely all day, and ate Navy Mess Style. We also went to Magnolia Plantations, where we went through Topiary Gardens, Audubon Swamp Gardens and Biblical Gardens. We went on a train ride and saw crocodiles and other wildlife that roamed freely. We toured the house and went to the petting zoo and the girls found their way through a BIG MAZE. We then went to the Discovery Place in North Carolina, which is a Hands-on Science Museum. We spent all day there and went into an Omnimax theatre where we saw Mt. Everest in 3-D. We felt just like we were on the Mountain too. We also went to the Planetarium where we saw Andromeda. We learned alot about the stars, galaxies, comets, etc. We then came home. We definitely recommend this trip to everyone. It was great!!!
We also went Camping at Blazing Saddles Horse Camp at Camp Oak Hills, The Junior Jamboree at Camp Oak Hills, Junior Fun Day at Camp Oak Hills, and The Junior Ogemaw Up All Night.
We were also given the Good Samaritin Award this year from a Local Church. This was quite an honor.
Part of our Honors Banquet will be aired on Michigan Magazine on September 26th on PBS at 9:30 AM. We helped them with their opening Ceremony for the New Michigan Magazine Museum in Comins, Michigan. We planted the flowers to help them with their landscaping and were invited to help with the opening ceremony.
Please e-mail us. We'd love to hear from you.
