The End of Dream Valley: Ponies in Peril By “Starhopper” Introduction In this story, you are Molly, Megan’s sister. The story is ten to twelve years after My Little Pony the
Movie. There is a new Pony, I made her up myself, and some of the Ponies are grown-up Babies.
Unexpected things lay ahead of you, so read and enjoy. I dedicate this story to the kids still at heart, like
myself, who grew to love our friends who we knew as the Little Ponies, and hope that they will live on
in stories much like mine. Paradise Estate - Gates
You come out of the blackness of a coma-like state on a grassy hill. In front of you is a large blue
gate of a pink estate.
“Welcome to Paradise Estate,” a fluttery voice says.
You look up, and a pink winged pony with electric blue hair is hovering above you.
“Who are you? This is like so, weird. I must have eaten something that did not agree with my
stomach,” you say in disbelief.
“I am Firefly, a Pegasus Pony, not a bad case of indigestion. I have brought you here with a
purpose,” she states. It sounded like she had rehearsed that.
“And what would that be? Where is ‘here,’ anyway? Look, I gotta go. Important college final tomorrow,”
you say, looking around for a way out of this place you’re in.
You turn around. Below you in a clearing at the bottom of the hill is a light pink castle. To your right at
the bottom of the hill, there is a pastel building that is partially collapsed, and what looks like a small
stage or meeting place. Pathways lead to glens, brooks, into the surrounding forest, and connect the
castle, building, and meeting place together. In the far off skyline of barren, rocky mountains, a dark
volcano sits smoldering.
“Don’t you remember us? We need your help, you must help us.” pleads Firefly.
“I don’t know you. I don’t even know where I am,” you say, but you do know that you are lying.
“You do too, but you don’t want to remember, do you? I don’t know why you’d want to forget. Help us,
please help us Molly.”
Inside a Fallen Paradise
Firefly opens the once glamorous sky blue gates of Paradise Estate, and you follow her inside. It seems
that all of Paradise Estate has seen better days. Paint is peeling off, shingles from the pink roof are
scattered everywhere.
You enter in to a courtyard. The blue pool in front of you is empty, with only two ring floats sitting on
the buckling bottom. Patio furniture has been shoved into a corner. You survey the mess, and see two
rooms to your right and left, adjacent to the small courtyard.
“Will you now tell me what’s going on? I can’t help you, and you are not Firefly, so cut the baloney,” you
spit out at the Pony.
She frowns, hangs her head, and says, “Fine, I’ll admit that I’m not the same Pony that brought your sister
here over ten years ago. I’m Baby Firefly, but the ‘Baby’ isn’t needed anymore. Mom was killed in one of
the attacks.”
“What! Attacked?! By who, what, when, why, and how? How could something like that could happen?”
you ask furiously.
“About two months ago, the two daughters of Hydia, Reeka and Draggle got their revenge on us. We
know it had to be them, it could be nothing, or nobody, else. The volcano had been smoking a lot the few
days before the first attack. It happened at the nursery. A back corner was demolished, and the roof
caved in. Six baby ponies, Sundance, Wind Whistler, and three Bushwoolies were all killed in the
collapsing nursery, crushed,” she says, choking back tears.
“But what attacked them?” you plead for information.
“That’s exactly what we’d like to know. We think the witches caused an earthquake or something, or
some mysterious force came down on the nursery and crushed that section with one swift blow, like a
hammer. The second attack came the next day, when a group went to bury those poor Ponies at our
favorite picnic place by the waterfall. Four Sea Ponies, Sweet Stuff, North Star, and Lofty, poor thing,
not that old, too young to die. All of them were too young to die. The last attack had to be the worst.
The annual Spring Festival. I don’t even want to think about that day,” she shudders.
“All we heard were screams. A few Ponies made it back here, but died before they could tell us what
happened,” Firefly can’t hold the tears back any longer, and she sputters, “Mommy went to see five of
the Baby Ponies dance that day. When we got to the stage, everyone was dead. No blood, just lying
there dead.”
“Right now twelve Ponies, eight Babies, and six Sea Ponies are scattered about this area. Spike too. He’s
a full grown dragon now, well, almost. Nobody knows where the Flutters are. We searched Flutter
Valley, but we couldn’t find them. But they hide good, too,” Firefly says wistfully.
“But why me?” you say stammering. “Why couldn’t you have come earlier? Huh? Why couldn’t you have
done that? Then Megan would not be -” you can’t finish your sentence.
“I tried to find you. But when I got to where you used to live, the place seemed deserted. Only a ‘for sale’
sign told me what I thought had happened. Later I realized that it said ‘for sale,’ not ‘sold.’ So I’m sorry
about that,” Firefly tries to explain.
“Molly,” Firefly says softly, and you look away. “Look at me, not the wall! I want you to be honest. I told
you what happened on our side of the rainbow. Tell me, what happened on yours.”
A Tragic Story Your story unravels to Firefly. You tell her that Megan was in a car accident about less than a week
after the attacks started. She is still in a coma, and there is not much chance of her coming out of it.
Unless she comes out soon, she will be taken off life support.
“So we have both lost a loved one,” says Firefly in an understanding tone.
“Get this straight Firefly. Megan is not dead. She’s alive. She’s not dead,” you sob uncontrollably to Firefly.
“Neither is she alive. And you can’t help her by crying. You must help us now,” she says gently to you.
“But how could I help you? I’m not as brave or strong as Megan or Danny are,” you start to get impatient.
“I will tell you.”
A Solution?
“Enough games. I’m tired, and I want to go home, Firefly,” you say bitterly.
“I told you I’d tell you what to do Molly! Stop being a stuck-up jerk, or I’ll never take you home!” Firefly
retorts. You’ve obviously ticked her off.
“Solodancer!” Firefly bellows.
From the kitchen, or what used to be the kitchen, comes a sky blue Pegasus Pony, with a mane and tail
of colors of the rainbow. The symbol on her side showed a red heart in between two black eighth-notes
underneath a rainbow.
“Yes Firefly?” she says.
Her voice is like none you have ever heard. Clear resonating, like the sound of delicate crystal bells, but
with a young Pony’s high pitch.
“I need you to take Molly to the stage and the nursery. Search everywhere, but be quick about it,”
commands Firefly.
“Yes, Firefly.” Wanted: Answers
“Molly, go with Solodancer,” Firefly orders sternly.
You realize you have no choice, and you reply with a gulp,“All right.”
“Come with me, Molly,” Solodancer says softly, and you follow her up the steps and out of the gates.
As you get farther away from the “safety,” of Paradise Estate, you suddenly feel as if you’ve been shut
up in a dark closet. You are hungry for answers.
“I demand answers to the following questions Solodancer. One: Where did everyone disappear to? Two:
Why didn’t you go to the Moochik for help? Three: Why me? Four: Why are we going to the stage and
the nursery? There’s nothing left there. And five: Haven’t these ‘attacks’ on you guys stopped? I need
answers, and I want them now!” you demand severely.
“I can give you those answers, Molly, but please be patient. The Ponies are hiding, I mustn’t tell you where.
It’s too dangerous to try to get to the Moochik on foot, and besides, all the Pegasi who knew where he
lives are dead. We wanted to find you, Megan, or Danny because you know us. Anybody else would be
too scared. We don’t know if we will be attacked again, or if Reeka and Draggle have had enough
revenge. We must hurry, so may we continue faster?” Solodancer says unusually patient for the
situation at stake, whatever that may be.
“You still haven’t told me why we’re going to the stage and the nursery. How ‘bout we go to Dream
Castle too? Visit the Grundles?” you say sarcastically.
“The Grundles are in a safe place where nobody can hurt them. We are going to the stage and the
nursery for a specific reason,” Solodancer says, now also getting ticked off at you.
“Well will you stop stalling then and tell me!” you yell, can’t standing the suspense any longer.
“If you would calm down and be quiet, I would consider it.”
A Revelation You finally wake up and smell the coffee. Firefly was right, you have been nothing but a stuck-up jerk,
and a brat. You’re nearly twenty, and you’re acting like a five year old who can’t have a lollipop.
“I’m sorry, Solodancer. I really mean it, too,” you say truthfully.
“Thank you, apology accepted. Now, I will tell you, no more stalling. I’ll admit that I had been trying to avoid
the subject. But I will tell you,” she takes a breath, and sighs.
“Remember when you, Megan and Danny were here? When Wind Whistler and North Star came for
the Rainbow of Light?” she asks you.
You nod, and she continues.
“Well, the Rainbow is exactly why we are going to our destination. Lickity-Split, my best friend, was killed
in the last attack. Earlier that day, she was wearing the Locket. But when we found her, it was gone.
We think that the witches might have it, but maybe not. We didn’t dare look for it then, we were too
scared. Too afraid to go out, fearing we could be the next victims. We hope to release the Rainbow and
get those witches out of here. ”
You are silent, and you halt, stopping to think about how much trouble the Ponies are in right now.
“I will watch over you Molly,” she says.
You now notice that you have reached the nursery ruins.
“What do you mean by ‘watch’ Solodancer?” you ask uneasily.
“I will watch out from a safe distance. You will be fine. Trust me Molly. I will be back.”
Ruins of the Nursery
As you watch Solodancer fly away, you come to understand that the Ponies really need your help. This
is not something you can back out on. It’s a definite life sentence for all of the little Ponies, however few
may be left.
“Your goal to getting out of this predicament is to find the Rainbow Locket. So start looking,” a mewing
voice from behind you says.
You whip around to face whoever, or whatever was speaking to you. You spot a fleeing figure in the
trees. You don’t recognize the voice, but whatever the thing was, it was big, really big!
Trying to ignore the figure, you set to work. One back corner of the nursery, as Firefly said, is in a heap
of rubble strewn about. The roof is completely collapsed, with its pretty pink shingles lying in small piles
or just flung everywhere.
You walk up the path to the nursery, and at first you hesitate to go in. The door is open. You take a
closer look and it’s not even there. So you duck right in.
Inside, you notice most of the furniture, mostly beds, have been moved out. Clothing and broken toys are
scattered about. Parts of the nursery rubble lie crumbling on the floor.
You work your way through piles of discarded junk, finding nothing. You are almost done searching the
upstairs floor, when you feel a rumbling vibration.
“What the - !” you don’t finish your cry, you just want to get out of here!
The shaking gets more violent, and the stairs collapse.
“Solodancer! Help me!” you scream, you can’t hear yourself, huddling down in a corner of the room.
The roar of the shaking is deafening, so you cover your ears. It feels like an earthquake, but somehow
much worse. Could this be an attack?
“Molly!”
You look up, and Solodancer is coming down towards you.
“Quick! Get on Molly! The nursery is about to collapse!”
Right before you jump on, a glint of something shiny catches your eye in the sunlight. Underneath a
broken down chest of drawers is a gold chain. Curiously hoping that the chain is what you think, you give
it a yank, and out comes the Rainbow Locket.
“I got it! I got it!” you yell into Solodancer’s ear as you jump on her back with a thud.
“That’s...just...great...Mol...ly.”
Oops. You jumped on too hard.
Solodancer then whisks you back towards Paradise Estate, over what looks like the -imploding?- nursery,
now abandoned Dream Castle, and back to the safe gates.
Back at the “Pearly” Gates
Firefly is waiting for you and Solodancer inside as you arrive at the gates.
“What happened?” she asks, but it seems as if she doesn't need an answer.
You then proudly and triumphantly hold up the Rainbow Locket.
“You found it!” she squeals gleefully. “Now we can say good riddance to those pesky witches!”
You both dance around happily.
“I’m sorry, but I will have to, as you say, ‘burst your bubble.’ That’s not the Rainbow Locket, Molly,”
Solodancer says sadly.
Firefly halts her dance of joy.
“The Locket Lickity was wearing was pink, not red. The witches must have it after all,” she states flatly.
“Uh oh,” is all you can squeak out.
Suddenly you have a revelation that brings you out of your funk.
“Wait! This is the Rainbow Locket! Hey, I should know!” you shout.
Solodancer and Firefly look at you dumbfounded. Then you all break out in shouts and a dance of joy.
“Yay! We-can now stop the wi-tches! We ar-re sa-aved!” Firefly cries.
She settles down, and you all start planning.

“Reeka!” Draggle bellows.
Their plan to slowly destroy the Little Ponies has worked. Soon all of them would be dead, save those
tiny Flutter Ponies. Then the valley would be dark, dank, and dreary, how Mama, oops, Hydia, had wanted
it. Hydia would be proud. We were finally being mean.
“What Draggle?”
Reeka, as fat and pudgy-cheeked as ever, comes up with a bat-wing cookie in tow.
“I just took care of that sissy nursery and another little one. A girl too. I guess they tried to go for help,
but nobody can help them. We got their Rainbow, and they’ll never have it!” she says.
“That’s great Draggle. You wasted them and their pink nursery,” Reeka says her mouth full.
“Come on Reeka, let’s go outside and see some devastation!”
</__~ </__~ </__~ </__~ </__~
“Okay Molly! Get on! Solodancer, follow me!” Firefly shouts.
You climb onto Firefly with the Rainbow Locket around your neck.
“This plan better work!” you yell to Solodancer and Firefly.
“Trust me! It will!” Solodancer replies.
Firefly takes you closer to the Volcano of Gloom. You get ready to open the Locket, and you see Reeka
and Draggle standing outside their ramshackle house. Perfect!
“Opening the Locket!” you cry.
The Locket opens slowly, and out comes the Rainbow of Light.
“Go get the witches! Take them away, some place where they will never hurt anyone again!” Solodancer
exclaims.
“Get them outta here!” Firefly yells.
Draggle screams, and her hands fly up to her face. Reeka chokes on her bat-wing cookie. They run, but
they can’t escape.
The Rainbow picks them up, and carries them far away, until they are out of sight.
“Yeah! They are gone! They’re outta here!” you cheer.
And Firefly and Solodancer rejoice. Solodancer starts to do flips and corkscrew spirals through the air.
“Solodancer! Go round up the Ponies. Tell them the witches have been taken care of!” Firefly pauses, and
with a grin, she says, “Or should I say, their time has expired?”
“Whatever you say Firefly!” Solodancer yells, taking off to fetch the Ponies.
Firefly races toward Paradise Estate, and gently touches down on the hill.
“Thank you Molly. We are once again in your debt. Thank you, thank you,” she says.
The Rainbow comes back, and you take off the Locket and hold it out so the Rainbow can enter. Once it
is inside, you close it up with a snap.
“Your welcome, Firefly,” you whisper smiling broadly.
Solodancer then lands with a tumbling skid on the grassy hill in between you and Firefly. All the Ponies
come running behind you. Spike is also with them. He’s grown, all right. About ten feet.
“Hi Molly,” he says holding his long tail, blushing.
His voice! He’s the figure that was in the trees!
All of the faces you see are happy, yet, sad.
Baby Sundance steps forward and says, “Thank you Molly. Now we can rebuild, and live without fear.”
Firefly now says to you, “Go ahead and take the Rainbow Molly. I don’t think we will need it ever again,
but if we do, Solodancer or I will come for it.”
You then fall into inky blackness.
</__~ </__~ </__~ </__~ </__~
When you come to, you hear a steady beeping. You look up. You are no longer in Dream Valley, but
sitting by the window in a chair, in Megan’s hospital room. Sunlight streams in through the open window,
and a soft early summer breeze ruffles the curtains gently. At first you think everything was a dream,
but then you notice the Rainbow Locket in your hand.
You look over at Megan, lying in her bed, looking so helpless, so lost, and you remember...
“She’s not dead...”
“Neither is she alive...”
Suddenly tears come to your eyes from hearing those echoes. You start to sob uncontrollably. You look
around for a Kleenex box, and you find one to the right of you on a small nightstand. You grab one of the
tissues, and blow hard with a loud honk.
The next thing you notice can only be a miracle from God.
Megan is sitting up in bed trying to pull wires and IV needles off of her.
“Geez! First I’m riding along in my car and the next thing I know I’m in a hospital. I hate hospitals!” she
mutters, and pulls out the life support wires. BEEEEEEEEP!
“Uh oh...” she then notices you, and says with a grin, “Molly, why are you crying? I’m okay. Why I’m in
here I don’t know, but I’m okay. Please don’t tell me that a whole bunch of doctors are gonna come
running in now that I accidentally made this thing flat line?”
You smile back, and holding up the Rainbow Locket, you say happily, “Welcome back Megan. I have to tell
you two months of catching up, and an adventure with a very happy ending.”
</__~ Conclusion </__~
As you fall asleep after coming home from the hospital, you start to dream. You are flying through
clouds, racing the wind and the Rainbow of Light. You start to descend down on a green valley, and you
hear laughter and singing. You see Dream Castle, Paradise Estate, Lullaby Nursery, all alive with Ponies
and friends. Even the Flutter Ponies are gliding gracefully around, celebrating the defeat of the witches.
All is well, once again, in Ponyland.
