TY DID NOT ANNOUNCE EVERYTHING AT ONCE THIS TIME. INSTEAD, NEW RELEASES WERE ANNOUNCED IN A "CRYSTAL BALL" AT TY.COM OVER A PERIOD OF 24 DAYS. WHAT FOLLOWS ARE THE DESCRIPTIONS WE POSTED EACH DAY THERE WAS NEWS. THE PICTURES AND NAMES OF NEW BEANIES HAVE BEEN CONSOLIDATED ONTO OUR MAIN PAGE. [Fuzz Beanie Buddy - 5,289 bytes]Many thought that new Beanies would be announced on Ty's Web site on April 1 (and that one of them would be a Princess Beanie Buddy). But Ty surprised us and only revealed one new Beanie: Fuzz the Beanie Buddy. It would be another week until more were announced. [Millennium Beanie Buddy - 5,605 bytes]Fuzz will be joined by his Y2K buddy, Millennium (spelled correctly this time; Ty released the Beanie Baby a few months ago with only one "n" in the name). This announcement was made on April 9, along with a new Beanie Baby and an Attic Treasure (see below).

Note added on 4-12-99: Paul mysteriously disappeared from Ty's site for two days. After being introduced on April 9, he vanished and then was re-introduced to us today, along with a new Attic Treasure named William.
We only feature Beanie Babies and Beanie Buddies on this page, but for those of you who are also interested in Attic Treasures, there was a new Attic Treasure announced on 4-9-99. Her name is Rafaella. There are other sites on the Internet that can probably tell you more, and you can also see her picture on Ty's site.

Also of note today is that there was a slot reserved on the Ty announcement page for someone named "Princess." We again thought this meant that a Princess Buddy might be coming soon. However, that line of code was removed the next day. On 4-13-99, Ty made this surprise announcement: Princess the Beanie Baby is now retired. (We thought all the retirees had been pre-announced in March.) So we kept waiting for a Princess Buddy (until 4-23-99 -- see below).

While many were hoping there would be an American-exclusive Beanie, this is NOT it! Spangle is identified with the U.S., but not sold exclusively here. Ty is very clear about bears like Maple, Germania, and Britannia that they are only to be sold in particular countries. As further proof, Spangle has already been reported to have been bought at a store in England. Ironically, Osito the Mexican Bear is the new U.S. Exclusive! This became known in late May as dealers in Canada were told they could not order Osito.
