The people at Disney in 1946,
released a movie to honor Uncle Remus' stories. The movie was released
to celebrate the stories as being fifty years old.They named the movie
"Song of the South" in which it involved animation alongwith live action.
The movie was released on November 2, 1946 and premiered in Atlanta, Georgia.
The cost of making the film was US$ 2.125 million and has grossed much
more than that.
An Academy Award was won for the song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah"
in the film "Song of the South".
James Baskette received an Academy Award (Special
Award) for his portrayal of Uncle Remus in the film.
The movie has not yet been released on video and
their has not been any plans to do so in the future.
This film was released on laserdisc in two countries
(subtitled) but not in North or South America.
