Kilan's Weyr

~Kilan's Weyr~

You enter a fairly clean weyr. It is simple, with a few paintings of people on the walls. Then, someone walks out of a hall. You can't see his face for he is pulling a shirt on. When he is finished, he jumps, startled by your presence. He dark hair is short and spiky, as if he is always sleeping. "Um, hello," he says. "I'm Kilan. Nice to meet your aquaintance." You greet him in return, and shake hands. He has to roll up the sleeves of his sweater before you do. "It's just, uh, kind of chilly out side. I was just about to go for a walk, uh, on the beach. I was just leaving, but we can stay and talk for a while if you like." You say that you'd like that, but you won't keep him long. "Well, I'm not really new to this Weyr. I've lived here some of my life. I used to live in Skyts Hold, which isn't that far from here. My father was a Craftsmaster, my mother was head of the kitchens. No, of course not! They're not dead. They're still at the Hold. Mother can still make the best bubbly pies and Father can still make nearly anything. I'm a candidate at Naronis Weyr, if you were wondering." You ask Kilan if he drew those paintings. "Some of them. The charcoal ones. I'm not good at doing colors. Some of the other riders and candidates did them. Um, Slara, Gariz and Riae did some. That far one, that's Arizon. I drew that one. She really liked. I like her, uh, it too." Kilan's face is red now. You say that you won't tell her, but you say to yourself that she probably knows already. Suddenly, a dog walks in, from where, you don't know.

"Oh, Kelver. He's my canine. I got him when I was being Searched at Naronis." Kilan's face is still red. "Uh, well, I think I should go now. You can stay if you want. I don't mind. Just don't, um, smudge the charcoal on the pictures." Kilan stands, his dog barking excitedly and following him as he nears the door. Kilan leaves, rolling up his sleeves, but instead, they just fall down again.
