Lameeka's History

Lameeka was born to be a drudge. Her mother became pregant by one of the young boys who use drudges to 'become men'. After her birth, Lameeka's mother was viciously used and died. Lameeka knows this is so, as one of the other drudges told her when she left. Lameeka carefully avoided men during her Turns as a drudge, and lived cleaning weyrs and cooking occasionally.

As Lameeka was thirteen, the Junior Lord Holder of WilknSilk Hold arrived. He made a bet with the Lord Holder. It was so, that if the Junior Lord Holder won, he would get as many of the drudges he wanted to take back and vis versa. So the Junior Lord Holder, who was orginally a Bitran, won and was able to take as many of the drudges he wanted. He took a score and a half, leaving only old women. The Lord Holder was of course furious, but he kept his mouth shut and his top on. Lameeka was one of the thirty girls that were rescued. When they reached WilknSilk Hold, many were immeditally fostered.

For Lameeka however, it took her longer because everyone thought she was full grown and could take care of herself. But soon, a Master Harper saw her as but a child and took her in. Lameeka lived with Chella, Allek and their child Chellek for three Turns. She became an Apprentice Starsmith until she was Searched by Seascape Weyr.
